Hi Mani, nice to see you're on here too. You don't know me but I know of you (doesn't everybody?) ... glad to have you here.

Anyways ... here's mine. Tamiya TB-01. Used to be a NSX body but I switched it over to a Camaro (for obvious reasons) and the black wheels.

hey guys is it true that using of RC planes and Helis are banned in SL?

last i saw our custom fellows were arguing with a fellow for bringing Rc plane in the bandaranayake airport :)

They are not allowed, tho there are ways around it. There is an earlier thread on that. Check it out.

  • 4 weeks later...

Got my self a Viper GTS R, NITRO RS4 3 (3rd Gen), thought i'll get with the flow, Its HPI, runs on glow fuel. 4WD , 2 speed, NITRO updated 15 FE engine. I have done away with the standard controller and got a Futuba T2ER. I have still not run the car cos i don't have the glow starter and the glow fuel yet. It has a standard top speed of 50 Kmph.

Thats a pretty good chassis. U'll be having some major fun once u get it going :D Join a club and run some competition, thats really the most fun you can have.

Hey Shak, lets set another R/C session? Find a good location...

Must talk to Niro and see if he can organise something like the races they did at Parliment on the AMRC TarMac. Should be an ideal place to lay out a track for the cars.

welcome to the club...where did you pick yours up? you should be able to pick glow fuel up from model zone or mick charles models...same with the starter...

love the tread on those tyres...

Ebay.. The problem i have is they sell fuel with a percentage mark on it. 16%, 25% so on.. whats that all about. The manual doesnt specify anything like that but just says use the proper glow fuel..!/@

hey peri, shark,

how much would one of these RC cars cost... i was going through e-bay and yahoo auctions and there are like heaps of types.... some are nitro powered while some run on batteries... off th e top of my head i'd think a nitro powered one would be way more powerful and faster than a battery powered one, all the while being more expensive.

What's a reasonable price to spend on a Nitro / battery powered car? (new and/or used)

how fast can a battery powered one go?

Check the HPI site for that chassis and/or motor. Dunno how u have so much choice tho, I think its mostly 33% here.

Price ranges here from around 20k for a fairly good electric to around 70k for the top nitros at the guy I deal with. Which tallies fairly closely with the prices advertised on the official manufacturer sites. My truck was 45k. On top gear with 3000mah batteries it'll hum along at 30+mph (Should be around 50kmph). And thats stock. The car was 26k and should do better than 20kmph stock. Plenty of mods available tho. Can easily break 50kmph with a few thousands more

Even a slow nitro can hit 40mph. The Traxxas Nitro 4-tec (available here) can do 62mph. Thats 100kmph! I've seen the things run at Independance Sq, those things are FAST! :D The Traxxas site has a new version listed at 70mph! And a stadium truck listed at 65mph

The thing to watch out for on places like ebay it to make sure what u are getting. Lotsa kits come with some components only, so the price looks attactive. There are quite a few kits that don't include a control. Most have no batteries. some don't include the servos or on-board electronics (ESC if memory serves) The packages I got from this guy includes all that. No advertising so wont say who ;) Madmax was looking at a package for 19k which doesn't include a remote. So u have to determine "hidden cost"

Oh forgot. The top thing the guy has is a 1:5 porsche. This thing it HUGE :D price 120k. runs on 90octane petrol. No idea about the speed but it must be insane! 100+ ? possible.

pericles i'm game for another session...why not back at the car park? or do you just want to just pick some parliament chicks up with your Z? :D

I'm game for the car park, tho its a little far to travel with all the stuff. Not parliment, too crowded. I was hoping an ok location midway between urs and mine :) 25km to get to the car park for me :D

Hmmm Bottles of coke, Beemers, RC cars.. what next I ask? Peri? :D

I've only tried Beemers and that almost worked. Haven't tried Coke or RC yet :P

I'll try in another car next ..... Lets see ;)
