jacklestano
Hi Everyone I decided to change the Factory Stereo (Gathers VRU-195CVI) in my 2018 Honda CR-V (Japanese Import) to the Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX.However after changing it to the Pioneer Stereo the steering wheel controls are no longer working even though the Metra Axxess Steering Wheel Control Interface was used.Is there any way I can get the steering wheel controls to work with the Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX ? Also does anyone know what these unused connections (blue & gray) are for ? Thanks

Thanks Expand I suggest you get the opinion of a professional audio installer, usually the pioneer units can be configured with or without an interface, but its not plug and play. Also be careful when playing with the wiring as a simple mistake can cost you a trip to the agents, fault codes, and a cooked fuseboard, they run a lot of complex electronics you know.
jacklestano
Hi tiv.Yes,I am not doing any work on my own as I have given the vehicle to a professional audio installer. However,he is not sure which cable is for what so he requested that I get a wiring diagram for him.

Shismo
I have the same issue on my JDM Civic. I installed a Pioneer Z5150BT and the steering wheel controls didn't work. B*r* Stereo guys hard wired the the steering wheel controls and managed to save some functionality. Volume and phone buttons which are now programmed to skip tracks and channels. I recently ordered the Metra Axxess Steering Wheel Control Interface (it was not available when I first fixed for the Civic) but haven't had a chance to get it fixed. I believe the wiring diagram is on their website along with how to manually program the car model and the head unit type.
kush
For all the trouble and expenses, I'm thinking one would have been better off importing through the agent with warrenty 1
BlueRaiden
Guys did you try using the pioneer menu? I use a 5150BT in my allion. When you turn off audio sources, somewhere in settings, it has steering wheel control configure option. From there, you can attach the functions you want for each key in the steering wheel. I will post some pics later if you want. Edited October 31, 2019 by BlueRaiden

Expand I am trying to figure out which steering wheel control interface to use and if there is a Honda specific steering wheel control module that has to be used. Also not seeing the specific plug for the steering wheel controls in the diagram above. The thing is the steering wheel controls are working in my 2015 Honda CR-V and the Metra Axxess was used in that. Shismo
Unfortunately I'm not en expert in this area and not sure how the steering wheel control wiring has been set-up but that said you wouldn't see a separate plug as such. It should be part of the main harness. Only interface I'm aware of that actually work is the Metra Axxess Steering Wheel Control Interface. However I couldn't locate one for the 2018 CRV on their website. https://axxessinterfaces.com/products?Year=2018&Make=Honda&Model=CR-V&Submodel=LX&TrimOption[]=Standard Audio only The below link provides instructions on how to manually reprogram the interface, https://axxessinterfaces.com/product/ASWC-1#docs-instructions Also below link depicts a radio replacement for a Civic (not sure how helpful it will be for the CRV) https://www.civicx.com/threads/lx-radio-replacement-thread.2116/page-
jacklestano
The only issue is I think the wiring for the USA model & Japanese model 2018 CR-V is different.
