Hi there!

I dont know whether it is something to do with Ford engines when they get old. I have a Escort Mark 1 1300GT. I had the same problem when I bought the vehicle, actually mine was worse. WHen I start the engine it wouldn't start for sometime but once it gets started it kept on running and sometimes even when you are driving the starter motor came into life. This is supposed to be a very bad thing as it can lead to a short circuit & end up in a fire ball.

How this was rectified was by putting on a new solonoid switch (I think its what cuts out the power once the vehicle starts).

By the way post a pic of your car, would love to see one of those beauties.

Cheers

Hi there

Thats a great car. Love the pony cars. Not the more recent ones though.

I am currently in the process of rebuilding a 67 pony. The going is painfully slow though. Time being the biggest problem.

As for your problem with the starter, did you match the starter with the flywheel? This could sometimes lead to a problem like the one you mention.

If not have the armeture checked out.

Let me know of developments.

Cheers

that's the mustang style i wish i had one of them i guess. one of my friend's had a 67 coupe i really liked it

my uncle just picked up a 69 fast back by just asking for free. my grandma had a 64 1/2 that was her favorite

year . my other uncle just sold his very rare mustang. I think it was a 67 or 68 hurst shelby mustang, they only

made one hundred of them. needless to say he made a lot of money off of that. I personally would have never sold that . well thank you for the info.
