South Africa’s Giniel de villiers captured the overall cars lead today. The Volkswagen Race Touareg driver has a tiny 22" lead on team mate Carlos Sainz. Also driving a VW, Jutta Kleinschmidt is third at 34".So its VW 123.

Frenchman Petarhansel who won last Paris Dakar is 9 th overall.

Interesting race this year.

Still a long way to go, but I have a feeling that the Pajeros will have a fight on their hands this year. the VW's are very strong and they are determined to win.

The South African boys are doing quite well. Especially in the privateer entries.
