Warped Alloy wheels

Hi all,

 

I bought a CLA 200 about 06 months back, suddenly vehicle is having a vibration at speeds exceeding 100Kmph when checked it seems the two front alloy wheels are slightly warped.

Two joints, one in Borelasgamuwa and another in Dehiwala said they were doing the relevant repair/correcting through a machine that takes around 4 hours.

I obtained two opinions from known reputed tyre shops, one guy said it is not advisable to correct it as it will harm the structure of the wheel while the other guy said there will not be a major structural impact.

 

As it stands i do not have a choice , much appreciated your advice on this

Warped? Are you sure there wasnt any accident damage? CLA's have very low profile tires so the alloys can get damaged by over enthusiastic driving on our pot hole riddled roads.

I did a car checks before purchase at the time of purchase there were no vibration, my wife use the car so i do not know is she did hit a large pothole

If the alloys are bent and wobbly I would recommend you to change them, get an insurance claim.

I am not sure how they are going to repair an alloy wheel that is warped / bent.

Any idea where i can buy and replacement unfortunately i want one i doubt anyone will sell one

by warped you mean bent/buckled? or something else? maybe they do something like this ? I don't think you will usually find a single alloy sadly  usually gets sold in sets

No idea about the Dehiwala shop but can recommend the Boralesgamuwa joint. They corrected my 3 alloy wheels and I am totally satisfied. Mine also European car.

update - i got the job done at Borelasgamuwa and was there for the entire process, seems to be they are experts on this while i was there BMW Z4,X5 Audi A4 and believe it or not an Aston Martin also got the same job done, reasonable price and very fast and professional service.
