any one knows about the Pajero io GDI engine issue? have they fixed it? is it a reliable vehicle.

also what is the market value for a 99 model (saw one ad for 2.4M)

one other thing what is the average fuel consumption like?

it doesnt do anything particularly well - the ride is decent,but nothing to write home about

The normal 2.0L Petrol does only about 5 kmpl in colombo , which is just pathetic for such a small vehicle..

i'm told the GDI's are better on fuel, but the Fuel Pump is know to fail and is costly to maintain

from what I've heard, the recommended fuel for the GDI Engine is 98 Octane and above. (Not available here in Sri Lanka) Fuel pumps fail regularly due to the fuel not being suitable.

Recently a friends jeep started to burn oil after 75,000 km. When he took it to the agents they said it was not unusual with GDIs., and that some may require a rebuild after 50,000.

If you're really hooked on one, look for the Montero IO model which came down brand new - with an engine which was suitable for use in Sri Lanka. There are a few around but will not have as many options and toys as the recon imports.
