Experts On Import Permits And Custom Charges

I've been using Toyota Corolla CE110 LX (2.0lit Diesel, 1995) for 7yrs overseas and registered under my name.

I want to know

1. Can I get a import permit to import the car to SLanka?

2. What's the market price of such car ? (AC, PS, 200,000km, very good mechanical condition) and good interior and exterior Champagne red)

3. What would be the duty

Any help, suggestions, comments, criticisum greatly appriciated

I'm not sure about the procedure or the availability of the permits, but one of our clients realised that it was really not worth it after having to pay very high taxes (even if its not the full component) compared to a similar car imported during pre-tax hike era (i.e. '98/9 in your case).

An CE110 LX 95 is worth up to 1.5mil may be 1.6-1.7 with the new numbers. I'm guessing it will cost you over 2 mil with the taxes.

Only worth if the duty is drastically reduced for your usage/onwership.

It has been prohibited to import more than 5 years (may be 7 years or 3 years) old cars to sri lanka. You can only take your car to sri lanka because you were using it there, showing your registration and all true documents to the customs also paying little bit import taxes.

We can directly buy AE110 G Grade from Japanese junk yards paying around US$4000 maximum even paying credit card. But only thing is we can’t register here.

Hi all

Thanks for the response. I am still waiting to know how the tax structure works. Have anybody imported personally used car(overseas). If I sell above car in here I may be lucky to get 40,0000Rs. That's why I am thinking of taking into Sri Lanka for some body to use. But it depends on the tax component.

Any body works for customs
