Reason For Sudden Performance Decrease

ThilakR

Question

Hi , :D

I went to Badulla last weekend and it was a continues drive about 5 hours. I hit 90 and 100 and sometimes more in a nice road (Raja Mawatha). :P

But suddenly I felt the speed was decreasing although I accelerated. :( The speed went down to 45 sometimes. :o I accelerated more but it was not speeding up. Nothing indicated on the dash board. Car was fine. Again I managed to speedup after sometime. I experience this many times during my drive.

Can anyone tell me what the reason behind this sudden performance decrease. The car is a SUZUKI Aerio 2003 done only 50,000KMS.

Many thanks for your views and advices. :)

I recently had a similar experience with my Alfa 156. I took it to 'our' specialist and he simply reset the engine programme (FOC) and its all great again.

Other possible problems could be...

1. Carbon deposits in the throttle bodies - needs a good cleaning up.

2. Malfunctioning fuel pump - will need replacement if so.

3. Problems with the Air Flow sensor - Could need a clean up or replacement

Had a similar problem. Turned out to be clogged injectors. (even after using injector cleaner in the fuel)

Simple injector cleanup (manual) + an electronic tune up by the agents corrected the problem... oh and fitted new spark plugs too.

One way to check would be to accelarate with the car in neutral. If the car does not rev past 4000 rpm easily there would be an issue

I used to machan.. not any more. I was based in Badulla for two years... I once went off the road in to one of those huge drains in Raja mawatha... car was almost on it's side... was stuck there without signals on my phone. by some miracle a truck with a boom (i think thats what you call it) came by 15 mins later and helped me get the car out..

if your going from col, take the Balangoda cut, its better (but now the Haputale road is under construction so it may take longer). I once left at 4 am and got there at 7.40 (after i went off the road, that time got a LOT longer) :-)
