Car Cover

Arc Angel

Recommended Posts

hi guys,

I park my car outdoors. As a result the #$%#@!# cats in the neighbourhood have decided to congregate on my bonnet at night as if it were a hot tub. I need to get a car cover.

some friends told me the the covers stick to the paint and leave smears....

please advise me on this matter... also would appreciate if you could touch on where to get them from and how much.

thanks mates...

You know Arc... I had the same problem. Thought of getting a car cover too. But the problem with the car cover is if you have dirt or mud on your car, every time you take the cover off it’ll leave some abrasion marks. After some time it’ll look worse than what a cat could do.

One suggestion is to fix a motion sensing halogen light directing at the spot where cat’s normally sleeps. Worked in my case. May be with a siren fix to that will chase them a mile (will definitely wake you and the neighbourhood up) :violent-smiley-099:

The other thing what you can do is get a cat & dog repellent spray (available in K9 centres) and spray on surrounding areas. Good remedy but an expensive one.

we'll look into those otions. thanks mate.

I had an alternative in mind too, which involved a air gun and ball bearings :)

had a similar problem then got myself a dog... problem sorted :)

but the dog is digging up the garden now :angry-smiley-048:

you can't have them all but the cat issue is no longer there :)

not an option mate, seeing as my bros and I account for three already, don't think mum can handle a fourth :)

the air gun thing is very messy man... my bro once accidently shot a cat with a 0.22 when he and i were shooting at AAA batteries our target of choice...

the cat died a horrible death as the lead pellet punched straight through it's head <_<

I believe the smaller 0.177 will do the same...

may be a good old catapault will do a good job :)

On getting a dog... get a rottie and you won't have any animal related problems :) maybe the rottie might turn against you but they kill i mean brutally kill any cat or unlucky dog that strays into your compound :angry-smiley-048:

And taking care of dog's is the men's job IMHO :)

i foresee no more cat-scratches on the hood, but lots of circular paint chips.., plus remember as soon as the cat is hit with the pellet, its first instinct is to run thus letting its claws out for more grip, thus FURTHER scratching the hood ;)

gosh dude, I'm not gonna shoot it while its on my car !!! :D

I prolly sound sadistic, but I HATE CATS.

but, like ripper said, if they do die a slow death, thats kinda mean... but once you get the first shot in, hopefull i can get close and finish it off :violent-smiley-099:

cos i don't want to go through another morning like today, when i saw my baby with those scratches and cat-puke.

I take it covers are a definite no-no....?

Well, i can't speak for using a cover daily- but even by taking off a cover once a week, you can pick up some dirt if you're not careful.

What i've found works well is to roll up the cover as you take it off the car. Problem is if this is outdoors, it's not practical, especially when its raining. But if you can do this under a roof, it should work without too much trouble.

The trade off will be that you *may* end up picking up dirt that *may* scratch your paint, but usually its nothing a wax can't take care of. Surely beats having the cats making out on your hood.

No mate..it wasn't a slow death for the putty cat... the pellet punched straight through its head and it was bleeding like crazy... it just went on auto mode and jumped up and down for like 2-3 seconds and died... Not a pretty site and the memory is still fresh in my head <_<

And the it just jumped into the path of the pellet about 30+ft from where the air gun was... A closer range show would've been just too much to handle <_<

I also hate bloody cats but i'd rather let my dogs take care of them :angry-smiley-048:

On covers...they are a pain in the tail light to keep clean so it wont scratch your paint....

but like somebody else mentioned....rolling the cover up slowly than taking it off porno style helps to minimize any possible scraping damage

If anyone kill a cat (or dog or any animal) just because of it is sleeping on the car “HE/SHE WILL DEFINITELY FACE A HORRIBLE DEATH BY ROAD ACCIDENT.”

IF YOU HAVE A BRAIN THAN AN ANIMAL why do you kill them for a very small reason?

Find solution by using it.

Mate that's a bit too harsh isn't it  take a chill pill bro...we're just discussing ideas light heartedly :)

It's sick to wish for someone's demise is such horrible ways just because they were cracking jokes that you find a lil hard to swallow :)

in my experience a dog running loose around a car all night will do more damage to the car than a cat. they just can't seem to keep their paws to themselves!

whoah... listen buddy. i personally don't care two $hits about talking about death especially if it's mine :)

my point was that you could've expressed your view much more politely... That's how we do things here :)

learn to be polite... people will listen and respect your view.

Apoi, keep dogs away from cars, especially the big breeds, We have enough scratches and nail marks on the doors and the front end to prove this. If the cats climbs on the car while being chased by a dog, some dogs will climb up on the car and you wouldn't want that!!! the best way I have found to get rid of the cats off the cars is a to chase them away a few times with a lots of noise and commotion. After a few days they wont come near the cars. Trust me, you might have to lose sleep a bit and look silly but it works. Or if your garage is covered and locked, open the hood and keep.

Dogs are great but you gotta train them right :) recently my uncles rear lights were bitten off by a big a$$ german shepherd :) I have a paraya dog that's great with the car and bikes :) she doesn't even pee on the wheels and does a brilliant job with the cats...

she also started clawing the bumper etc but i managed to "educate" her not to do it...

The good thing dogs IMHO is that you can train them nicely if you take the trouble to do so....cats just don't care

And another thing with cats is that you should not leave food outside for them... if cat's find out that your house is a good area for free food they will never go away...

And like someone else said... giving them a hard time a bit often will make them go away... they are too bloody lazy to get chased all the time.

And another weird trick i learned once when i was on work deep down south... people leave clear glass bottles filled with water after dark in their gardens to keep cats away... I initially freaked out thinking it's some witchcraft thing since those areas are popular for those but it turned out to be a rather harmless way to keep cats from pooping all over your garden...

I have no clue as to how this works but the people who were doing it insists it works like a charm :) worth a shot
