Dilruk Karunanayake
Hi everyone, I'm new to the whole vehicle maintenance world and i just acquired my first vehicle. It's a Toyota Hilux Ln107 with a 3L engine. It has about 473,000km registered in it. I've recently started to restore it from the front started with replacing all the tire rods, ends & ball joints...etc. The next phase is the engine. Currently it's leaking oil everywhere and I'm certain that all the gaskets and rubber washers have worn out. could someone advise me if I should do a complete overhaul or a rebuild. if so where is a reliable place and the approximate price? Thanks Dilruk

Do you know if the engine was ever overhauled ? Considering the mileage (and if rebuild had never been done or not been done recently) you may have to do a rebuild. So go in with the full expectation of having to do a rebuild and if you don't that would be just a cherry on top of your cake. If it was me and I was planning on keeping the vehicle for a long time and fully use it for what it was intended to be used for, I would do a rebuild of the engine properly the way I want it done. Please post pics of your car. I hope you would start a restoration thread and share everything you are doing with it.
