Yeap indeed very little 2nd hand value for the none jap cars in SL, except for BM and merc, European cars are not perceived as reliable cars in SL and the spare prices are insane! :D

when i checked at that time, there was no engine capacity limit for the exchanged earned permit... this is the only way you can get downa higher capacity car.

Machan Fuzzo, Under these two schemes you mention, is there is any provision to import a old car more than 5 years old. (1990 Model)

yes in the 2nd scheme.. you can import a car upto 10 years old...

also there is a loop hole in this system, it does not look at manufacturing year, only at date of first registration. so if the manufacturing year of hte car is 1990 but its imported to another country and registered in 99, then you can bring this car down under the permit. ;)

A 156 for one mill??? Where? I'll buy another f its a 2.0!!

A 300-/301- in good shape will be start at 1.4, 1.5m. You can't get later ones for less than 1.8m.

I'd reckon a unreg V6 will fetch about 2m at least.

Of coz depends on the condition. There's one advertised in last Sundays papers. A bit rough and not maintained by a specialist. He's quoting 1.55m. I think that'll be worth 1.1m/1.2m.

an agents valuation is the basis on which customs calulates the residual value & duty of the vehicle being imported correct?

if so in the instance wherean agent is not present ( Ex: Lotus , Aston Martin , GM etc) how does customs go abt making the duty figure??:angry:

when i spoke to the import/export dept about this, they told me that the duty remains the same, where you save is that you can send cars older than 3 years as a gift...

they also told me to double check with customs if there are any concessions.
