That I think was the Blue one....I remember having a peek but I remember it being LHD. Its was at a place in Cotta Road.

I have seen 3 in all. The Blue, The Red and a Dark Met Grey if I can recall proper.

Red one was a LHD, which might have been in Ajm**'s car sale which used to be on Cotta Rd. The blue car(Mr. Perera's old car) is a RHD.

if i remember right red one was LHD as well. Mili how much did the owner quote you back then?

6~7 Million was the quoted figure if my memory serves me right, but i must say i'm very hazy about that figure

rumour has it though, that it eventually might have been sold, if at all, for 3~4

all hearsay

Asking was 4 mil. which wasn't cheap at the time. (Just to benchmark prices at the time... you could get a 1500 Mazda 323 for 12.50, N-16 S.Saloon for 1.6mil, a Corolla 121 Recon for 18.75, Allion for 26.50 etc. all unregd and vehicles were going on late H Plates).

I’d be willing to ignore the fact that its auto for that. IMHO, the sexiest car BM ever built.

M1 M1 M1 for me. Took this in Malaysia in 2006 a day before the Gran Prix.

.....& you are certain that this has no link to the M1's Lambo connection? ;)

No doubt it looks good .... but I'd still pick the 8.

It might be my odd fascination with V12s...

with you all the way on this Peri :)

the M1 will always look like an Italian knock off imo (not that its a bad thing :D ) , but the the 8 Series seems the very personification of what BMW is all about

Oh for sure!!! But it's also the Guigiaro body. Last night I was reading about the M1's development. It was a minor commercial faliure because of the Lambo involvement. They did not deliver chassis on time :D ! Typical Italian mismanagement.

Ok ok if you insist that the M1 is an Italian knock off ;) my second choice will be the 3.0CSL

The 8 was over weight in typical 80's style - so not sexy for me :D . The CSL was a true lightweight racer for the road! 1270kg and 200bhp.

But talking of really sexy BMWs how about this 328 Mille Milglia? It showed the Italians a thing or two about racing in their own back yard. Now that has to be sexy!

The CSL was a great car, but it looked very square. Its not sleek enough to be sexy. The 8 might have been overweight/underpowered, but it looked sleek. Flowing. That kinda thing. I didn't say the 8 was my fave BM, just the sexiest ;)

Yes, that is sexy. But a bit too retro for my tastes. Thats ok tho :D

Well yes the 8 does have its charm, I really liked when it was new. And its a whole lot better than the new crap they keep producing.

328 MM is not retro.......it's classic ;) This is the original not a remake :) !

The CSL was certainly an interesting car ,esp in its Touring car "Batmobile" form!

hmmm that 328 looks rather similar to a 6C 2300 from the 30's or even more so the 8C 29000 MM doesnt it?!

Oh, right. Definitions. Well, not much of a classics fan. What can you expect of a guy who chose to work in technology? :D

Does Benz not have a pagent in the summer at BMICH? Why dont the Roundel owners have a get together as well? There has to be more of us in SL? Is the new 1 series destin to SL?

Benz pageant is organized and sponsored by the agents D*MO. Prestige automobiles who are the agents for BMW are interested in selling a couple of cars that's it. They don't seem to want to go beyond that. As a matter of fact they don't even care if the cars don't comeback for services.. Their focus is the turnover from new imports.

Last time I had a chat with the sales manager at Prestige he said they have no intention of bringing down the 1 series, as it requires a lot of investment because it's a new model range.

Yeah thats so true. The service department guys also give such vague answers.... And the buggers have the cheek to send out the new bm mag with the 1 on the cover. Saw Ajmals red one parked in their garage when I went for service. Just for the heck of it asked the service fellow for a quote to replace my shock bumpers which and his answer was like 20k for two of these 1.5k a piece parts. Fitted them myself on my older E46 total cost was about 3k. Honestly I wonder what world they live in. It would seem that they don't need the normal customers when the SL Gov keeps buying X5's and 7 series and just servicing them is more than sufficient to keep their repair people happy.

But on that topic honestly you wonder - You read the BM TIS technical CD - every nut and bolt on the car has a torque specified ...etc but didn't really see the colour of a torque wrench at the agent. !!

Thanks, I want to keep it as it is without any obvious cosmetic mods. As minimalistic as possible.

Thanks mate. Yes, the previous owner has maintained it very well. I am just continuing it.

The car gets serviced according its own service indicator, which works out to every 6000-7500 MILES... I got the last one done in August last year at the agents and I still have a long way to go before the next service. Hence running costs are very minimum. Also I changed the ATF at the agents, good for the next 100K Kms.

Apart from a few bulbs, fuses and a leaky AC cooler, which I got argon welded and a re-gassing of the AC, no other issues. I do at least 500kms a weeks in her. My gas bills are more or less the same as the P11.

My P11 sucked off more money in the first year of ownership. Radiator, Battery, Alternator, Compressor, Suspension, Radiator fan, shocks, CV, Crank Pulley.... man! You name it, I had it replaced in that car.

But having said that, its a matter of time before something big fails as she is in that age and mileage, (57,000 miles). But I am keeping a very close eye on things. :)
