ash Posted February 6, 2008 Share Posted February 6, 2008 Are you referring to VIC (vehicle identity card number) If it's the case, it's the document you get from the dept. of motor traffic. This is a must when you transferring a vehicle. It's basically contains the same information of the certificate of registration of a motor vehicle. No machan, this is something else. this is unique number given by Vehicle manufacturer to identify a vehicle. so they can use this details to gather Manufacturing plant, Country, Model etc.. 6208 Posted February 6, 2008 Share Posted February 6, 2008 Some Japanese manufacturers use a different format (for ex: model code + serial number) for domestic vehicles, so you may not be able to figure out all the information from VIN itself.
