Honda Civic Lession For A Newbie

One of my friends recently bought a Civic with VTi badge. I've seen Exi, VTi, RS, ViRS and some few which I could not remember. What's the difference? How many Civic models are there?

The Wiki article is a good start, but they do tend to focus more on the US Market versions, which are somewhat different to JDM specs...

Guys, I came across 3 Civic EK3s Fiero cars recently (YOM 96-98), number is 301 - One is with Vtec and climate control, which a member suggested that could have been done Japan itself when importing (reconditioned one) both others are EXi (non V-TEC) models.

My questions are

1 - Is EK3 Fiero came with VTEC engine originaly?

2 - How do i know if engine replaced

3 - Are Vi and VTI same?

1. Yes. If its a Vti/Vi not if its an Exi

2. Tough to say if its good job done in Japan.. serial number work is a good place to start I guess

3. More or less. Vti is used in the EG and ES models to denote that the engine has v-tec. Same in the Ek's only thing is that the Vti models which mostly came from singapore have slightly different spec engine to the JDM vi's. The Vti's also have a more refined interior.
