Mighty Mini Go Green Drive' a vehicle Emission Testing program for all minis (no need to be a member of Mighty Mini Club) has been arranged by the Mighty Mini on Saturday 11th Oct 08

The testing options available for your benefit are as follows:

1. Free Emission test by CleanCo Lanka (Pvt)Ltd. How ever the Government required S L V E T Certificate will not be issued. You will be informed if your vehicle has passed the test or not.

2. An Emission test by CleanCo Lanka (Pvt)Ltd along with a S L V E T Certificate required for a revenue licence would cost Rs.759/- per car ( Each certificate has a validity of 1 year from the date of issue) All payments will have to be made in cash directly to CleanCo Lanka (Pvt) Ltd personal at the venue.

You need to ensure your vehicle engine is well tuned. Please do not forget to bring a copy of the registration certificate or VIC of the relevant vehicle as details are needed to be entered in the S L V E T Certificate.

The itinerary for the day would be as follows:

2.30pm Minis meet up opposite Colombo Town Hall

3.00pm Start of the drive and proceed in procession to the Nawam Mawatha Car Park after a short drive around Colombo. At the Car Park each car could be tested & certified based on the requirements of the owner.

You might want to check on this, but I think the Supreme court has ordered that all the new "green" taxes the govt has put in to be halted. Including the mobile phones and cars. In which case, paying and getting the certificate would be a waste of money. Worth checking up on.

Thanks Pericles for the heads up. As you said, if the necessity of the certificate is on hold, we might not need the certificate right away, but I personally would get the certificate as the rule will enforce soon and the certificate is still valid for 1 year.

MMC initiated this not to get through the certificate but to make sure all our classic MINIs are environmental friendly.
