Mani
Hello all, I'm reaching out to you guys here with an emergency that is completely unrelated to this forum. A very close relative of mine has been poisoned with "Curator". As far as I understand that is how it's spelled and it is used to kill weed and bugs that destroy rice plants. He is in extremely critical condition and rapidly deteriorating. I want to make sure that he's getting the best care possible and I'm powerless sitting half world away. I'm reaching out to any of you who can recommend me the best doctor and or the hospital in SL that specialize in poisoning cases. I'm catching a flight to SL early tomorrow. As such, I have less than 24 hours. If you know of or can recommend me to someone, private or government [cost is no objection] that will provide the best care, I would be greatful. Please e-mail me their contact information. My e-mail is mani.jayasinghe@gmail.com Thank you!

isam
Sorry 2 hear abt your relative Mani, hope he dill recover soon From what I've heard, government hospitals do take good care, but you will have to stay alert as they don't have many medicines, in which case someone will have to stay near the patient and inform to an outside party to bring the recommend medicine from outside at least. Mani
Thanks Damith and Isam for the information. I'm going to print this page just before I leave so I have all the information when I get there. I have also passed the information on to my family in SL so as to look into every option we have available.
xXx
machang government hospitals are the way forward to tackle this type of cases as you get lot of patients with similar conditions admitting on a daily basis. get hold of a doctor some one with bit of authority i.e. someone who's in charge of a ward etc so you/your patient can get bit of V*P treatment. Mani
Thanks xXx and Ripper. That is where he is right now. I'm told that there are 7 specialists looking after him so he is in good hands. My hope is to explore every little posibility there is, even if it's a fraction of a percent. Unfortunately the latest update I received is not very encouraging. I'm hoping against all odds he will pull though. Sadly that is all I have to go by and I have never felt this helpless in my life. Can't wait to get home. miniace
Very sorry to hear the news! Colombo General hospital is the best place. If the patient is in ICU don’t remove him. Best doctor for poisoning is Dr Ravindra Fernando.Dr Gamini Silva is the best for subsequent treatments. Best private hospital with ICU facility for poisoning is Asiri. Curator is a curable poison I heard. One of my Dad’s employees survived a curator suicide attempt and above doctors treated him. Contact me anytime. Sent you a mail as well. My mobile number is mentioned there. MINIACE

Mani
Thanks Ravi, I have your phone number. I'll contact you when I get things sorted out and I also passed the information about the doctors you recommended to my family so they can get in touch with them. I also just got off the phone with one of the specialist who will talk to the doctors that's treating him to compare notes and see if there is anything else that can be done. Again, thanks everyone.
