Valve Clearance Adjustment To Improve Fuel Efficiency

I did a recent tune up on my Nissan Pulsar FN15 @ a reputed place but even after that there seems no significant improvement on fuel efficiency although pick up and drag is good. It does works only around 8 - 9 km/l in Colombo city limits.

A friend of mine told me that I should go for a valve clearance adjustment as the mileage is 181,000 km now to improve fuel efficiency. Guys pls give your advise too on this issue;

1. Should I have to go for a valve clearance adjustment?

2. Any place where this will be done correctly? (I'm in Athurugiriya)

3. What amount will cost this operation?

4. Also there is an idea that ' No need tune ups if run with fuel system cleaners frequently'. Is this true?
