Building A Drag-able Car

fuzzo

Question

what would be a good base to build a drag-able car in SL... apart from the civic.

and no, i'm not going to do it.. i was just wondering what other cars can be used. (ofcourse this is for the more budget constrained people)

we have seen the following performing well

carina GT

ITR

CTR

MR2

STartlet GT

are there any others which would be good...

Well that's nice to hear, thought you were die-hard for Honda only. I like Mitsubishis too, though I've only used a 1980 box-model Lancer, which incidently hung around for 25 years :P But can someone tell me (never understood) the difference between the normal Lancer and the "Cedia." Because I've seen a couple of modified Cedia's on the road, and they LOOKED good (better than most overly modified lancers-can't say how their performance was though) So is this Cedia just a badge or does it have any mechanical differences? And how good of a drag car is it?

Nah I like all car makes, Honda is the one that i use to brag about coz i like the Honda philosophy ... now thatz HISTORY!

Here goes all you ever wanted to know about the Cedia

http://www.autozine.org/html/Mitsubishi/Lancer.html

"The seventh generation Lancer gains an additional name "Cedia" which is the combination of "Century" and "Diamond". Sounds a little bit prestige, at least Mitsubishi is thinking so. This implies the new Lancer is designed to be more luxurious and conservative but not as sporty as its predecessor. "

hey!!! Viva la Mitsubishi!!!

wow, a Honda avatar, but yet a Mitsubishi lover... :) machan you sure do have diverse taste...

i dont remember where i said "not so knowledgable" ... but i cant even start guessing.. lotsa thinks i dont know a lot about.. probaby in a bikes thread ..

anyway, sticking to the thread, how'd a mistu COLT be? cos there are(at least 'were') rumors that Mitsu is going to continuye its Evo range on the colt platform... plus its a light wieght car... though may not be the prettiest hatch in its stock form...

nah mate "not so knowledgable" was not at you, it was at the dude i had replied in that post, that guy had implied to say he is "not so knowledgable" while still demonstrating a quite a good sense in his post :)

Hi Gihan,

Its a direct fit, you might need different engine mounts cos the Evo engine is heavier being 2L and with the turbo its but the Evo's and the lancers basically share the same chassy,

The Don

Thanx for the info bro , so then if anyone can find a evo engine n a lancer, we can build a good drag car, n still i dont think we can find any good project than ashans evo project, cus as i know he beat shamins evo 4

Hi,

Yeps finding such 4G63's of a particular generation and the ECU remains the holy grain of anybody who owns a Mitsubishi or a Proton for that matter,

But I guess the bigger problem is making the car AWD, because you have to source an mount the rear differential, find hubs etc, and these parts are even more illusive than the engine, but since people have done it like Ashan, it can be done, and its lovely to see. and hats off to those guys, and a big thumbs up to Ashan.

In the same ways I guess you can do a Pulsar GTIR conversion cos those engines drop into the Pulsar chassy as well, but the same issues as the Evo conversion. I am supprised nobody has mentioned this yet.

And there was a time that I used to see some Suzuki swifts being raced, what is the potential for a Suzuki to be draggable ? for they are quite cheap to obtain I asume.

Yea theres a WRC version of the Swift, though I don't know if it's around here. I'm sure that would make a decent drag car?

Hot GTis? I don't know dude. The only hot one I know of is Sa's.

It's actually a JWRC car, and no its not here. It would be a crime to use that car for drag racing.

Nope.
