yeah machan its true what you say about the recon ones being poor on fuel. The thing is my dad and I hardly push the car we generally keep it below 2500 revs. The moment you thrash the thing those figures drop drastically. I think the only reason we get good figures is because of regular maintenance. Also the Sonata is not a car to be thrashed because the performance is not to great.

Our car is a recon. When we bought it (JB reg) it had about 40,000kms on the clock. The amazing thing about it was the previous owner (Singapore) maintaned a meticulous service history of the vehicle and kept a record of it in the cars original manual. This guy had details of every service and every single thing done to the vehicle all by Hyundai Singapore. That was part of the reason we bought it even though the dealer here was asking 45k more than the Silver Sonatas (our's is Black btw).

I saw a Prado pumping 90 once. I cant understand it. the 3 buck diff is nothing compared to the saving if he drives it right on 95.

u guys got really lucky wit this car then...a frnd's brother has a jag model n its apparently more comfortable dan her other bro's volvo S40...

n yes dats my point exactly abt ppl who buy fancy vehicles n pump cheap fuel...u'd think they hav the money to pump 95 if they can afford a prado or montero or even an x-trail?jk fuzzo

xtrails are excused machan.. those are poor mans prados

hey does the Sonata come in diesel? and whats the capacity?

and always wondered why the X-trail doesnt come in diesel... i'm sure nissan probably has some engine at the back of the room, that'd fit the X-trail.. maybe the 2WD pickup engine...

My first post :D

My dad had the dog model sonata. It was pretty good. luxury wise, it had everything you could want. The rear armrest had the cupholders and the storage compartment and all that. It didnt have airbags or anything, only ABS. We got it in 2004 and paid 1250000. Really good car until the tsunami washed it away. The car was totalled. dunno wat happened to it afterwards. Anyway we got another car, a 2002 kia optima, which shares most of its body and styling with the sonata. got it for 1.8 million. Its a car worth considering. Its not as good luxury wise as the sonata, but its does have projection headlamps, digital meter and a airbag. Performance wise its better than the sonata. top speed my dad has done is 155 kmph. which is not bad for a big car.

Hello and welcome :P

And what do you mean it didn't have airbags :P I thought it was made illegal to produce cars without airbags some years ago? Or do you mean non-driver side airbags?

well im not too sure about this, but the old sonatas we get from singapore dont have airbags. Ive checked a lot of them and they dont, not even the jaguar model. Ive seen some with airbags but those bought or imported brand new. My dads Optima is supposed to have 2 airbags, and it says so on the sun visor, but it on ly has one, You can see the lines on the dash for the second airbag as if it has been removed, probably either to lower tax. Not too sure.

fuzzo there is a diesel version of the x-trail.

delish i've cn u popping the diesel question few times. tax for diesel luxury vehicles(cars n SUVs) are very high. this was done as a bid 2 reduce the air pollution. so no one bother to bring down any. so if u r planning to buy a new diesel car or a SUV scrap the idea u wont b able to find one.
