Tips And Tricks To You Use To Avoid Being Copped

Question

Hi guys

As of late i see a heightened presence of traffic cops especially in the night. gone are the days were there used to be middle aged cops who just look for "something" , but now you find young traffic cops who are the no nonsense type.

Apart from the usual minor traffic offenses like running a stop light and obstructive parking i guess the most serious offense you can get caught to us drunken driving, not to mention the safety of yourself and others on the road..IF you do get caught it is such a hassle, trust me..my friend went through it and got his license canceled for a year and regretting having that bottoms up!

Fridays and Saturday nights are the worst, they now cover all main intersections and practically seal off certain areas so there is no escape.

I am not encouraging driving under the influence of liquor, however there is something called responsible drinking and you are SURE that you can control the vehicle and reach your destination safe, it is during these times that most people are caught and have to go through the remand and court cases and license cancellation.

I have observed the following ;

1) Weekdays- Mondays to Thursdays and Sunday- safest period to have a quick one and get home safe without any hassle. Hardly any traffic cops on the roads.

2) Take detours along by roads as much as possible, However ultimately it leads to some junctions and the guys know you have to take that route somehow..so they post themselves there.

3) After the session always drive with your shutter down without AC, you have no idea how much your breath circulates within the car! a burp can make it even worse!

4) Have a bottle of Listerine and a deodrant in your car, its quite effective and gets rid of all the bad smells so the gets to smell something nice when he pokes his head in! eating hacks and stuff wont help.

5) If stopped and he suspects you are drunk and he asks you to get down from the vehicle, get out very carfefully, they watch your feet, if you stumble slightly thats the give away.

6) If you are indeed cornered, just speaking to them nicely would always help..unless of course you are connected!

Any other ideas guys? These have worked for me! dont know for how long though!

Just be glad we don't have a "permanent record" as such that goes against us for traffic violations. The DUI business in the USA is often the deciding factor in things like jobs, because once you get one, it's on your permananent record (I think forever).

what is the difference between been a lunatic behind a safe car and a gentle driver behind a not so safe car????

Even a stationary car can be hit by another vehicle. Its why I wear seat belts. Not coz of my driving, but who can tell when someone else will come over and give you a thump?

Hold on a sec mate.. I think I didn't explain it properly.

Wel, I usually have a beer Fridays after work. A beer doesn't get me, but one beer, and the cops do. One beer is not lethal, but the Breathalyzer can nail you.

If I plan on having a drinking session, then I make it a point not to drive.. or drink in day light ;) I'm well aware of the consequences.

So, there goes.. Having ONE beer, and driving, can still mean you are driving after drinks.... :P

Mate,

When you say one beer, you mean 1 bottle of beer or just a schooner? SL beer bottles are typically 750 ml and the alochol percentage is 8%. Here the rule of thumb is is dont drive after more than 2 beers ( 375 ml bottles @ 5% Alch.). And for each bottle/shot wait 1-2 hours before driving. And it also depends on your body mass..if you are 100kg dude, I think you should be fine..if not, you might be drunk and not realising it until it is too late.

Errrrr... I drink Lion Beer... (625ml @ 4.8% Alc. volume) As a starter... then go home for the rest.... weight, 80Kg.

Very much agree.....an incident that happened several years ago comes to mind.

A group of us had just left otters in two cars and were driving towards elvitigala on bullers road,

suddenly outta nowhere (presumably :P ) comes a grand civic that crashes into my friends car in front.

Luckily no major damage to my friends car...the civic got a bit mashed up in front.

But I really can't imagine what the follow in the civic was thinking when he took the wheel

cause he couldn't even sit straight let alone drive.

He just started crying, then apologising..... :D

We felt bad for the dude and another in our group put mr. drunk in the passenger seat of his own car and we drove

him home....best part was when we got there his wife refused to let him in the house, so we just left him in the car and went off. Sad really..........

I'm very ashamed to say that I once did drive piss drunk.....however I did it at 40kmh for a distance of about 3km from the place the party was at to my home with my wife holding the steering and shouting directions all the way.

There was no excuse...I should have taken a cab that night, and although nothing happened, I still regret it.

My point in this rant is that anyone who insists on driving when they've been drinking too much doesn't deserve to

have a license, it is not only disregard for themselves but also for all other road users.

They are selfish individuals who could care less what happens around them and cause a lifetime of hurt to others.

By drinking I mean about 3-4 drinks upwards, not one bottle of beer or a shot of something.

However if a bottle of beer or even one shot affects you....then don't take the risk.

Sadly with all the accidents still happening, its evident that people seem to turn a blind eye and carry on regardless.

Such a shame.
