Toyota Specialist Or Good Garage

Recommended Posts

Guys i need some work to be done on a car i purchased recently (2003 corolla 121). Would greatly appreciate if you let me know if there is a person or place where i can take the car (except for the agents), may be ex toyota LK or some other good garage in the colombo area to get an overall check up and the following issues sorted. If possible give some approximate cost

1. Replace motor on one side mirror which does not fold automatically (a cost if known)

2. Replace a parking light and break light bulb (tell me a cost of bulb if known)

3. Check suspension, bushes, tyre rods, brake pads and do related repairs etc

I hope this is not against forum rules. This is my first car and am clueless as to places to get these done

#1 Ruwan motors - darley road - he has been extensively reccomended by many forum users for power mirrror/shutter/central locking etc stuff...

#2 is an easy DIY job if not almost any garage fella should be able to do it... If not Ruwan too can sort it out...

#3 if the car has no issues with suspension, many service station fellas should be able to just check them for you...if you're worried over suspension, then better to show it to an expert!

brake pads too are easy DIY... If you are not mechanically inclined or don't want the hassle...

#2 and #3 can be easily sorted out at this garage near the baseline road railway crossing... i've been there a few times after so many recommendations from AL users and the guy was really good... but sadly his name evades me right now :(

Thanks guys. Im a bit nervous taking my car to darley road. Probably go with some one else.

How about N*L*KA tyre centre at hyde park corner for replacing bushes, reparing tyre rods etc?

Also i was told about P*LA electricals on baseline road for the power mirror issue and the bulb replacement. Is it any good?

There is a garage run by ex toyota lanka man one chandrasena at ethul kotte just after the boo tree you have to turn on your right hand side when you are comming from rajagiriya. The lane is called ANGAMPITIYA ROAD and the name of the place is UDARA. My wifes Toyota car maintenance is done by him and can recommend.

Guys work is good. Been going there for some time. Reliable guy and he does not take longer than necessary to finish a job on account of the number number of folks waiting to get their cars in.. :)

Do you think i can get the following done by him?

1. Manual change of ATF

2. Throttle body clean

The ex-toyo man himself seems ok and I and some others I know have got some repairs done there satisfactorily.

But as in any place u may need to keep ur eye on things and beware of the actual joker who comes to fix ur car.

sometime back I went to get my steering wheel straightened. (since it had air bag, alignment chap did not want to do it).

I had little idea abt it at that time.

The  nitwit assigned to do it first tried by removing the steering rod from near the pedals and correct. As he could not, then only he removed the air bag and said the adjustment cannot be fully done. Then I told the nitwit, hold on and went to speak to the boss (ex-toyo guy) about what can be done, and during that moment this B***** F***ing :violent-smiley-030: nitwit had messed up my alignment from near the front wheels saying it has to be corrected from there :angry-smiley-048:

well ex-toyo did not charge me for the mess but was of the opinion that alignment guys should re-do it free of charge while keeping steering straight rather than he pocket it out. Well could not be bothered arguing for a few 100 bucks those days and since he has done ok jobs before I let it go and got the alignment and sterering corrected some other place

Well as in any place, keep an eye (or both eyes) on who does the job :D
