The above friend said the following

- Veeeeery comfortable (its a her and she literally purred!)

- Had issues with parts as the agent usually said they dont have it in stock. They had to get it down from Singa

- She couldn't sell it for months finall sold it for 2.3mn whereas bought it for about 2.8 I think.

The fact that the agents are useless has been discussed many times on this forum. Maybe someone from the MFOC can ask Mazna and see if they can take care of it?

hi,

i am having a budget of around 2.2 million...

was wondering whether a mazda tribute or

a pajero io(pajero junior) or

honda crv would be best?

are there any known issues with any of the models?

please enlighten me.. becoz im totally in the dark about whatever the problems they may have..

how about the fuel consumption and all?

thanks in advance..

Bro,

Mazda Tribute is a good jeep...among your prefered choices..i should say its da most comfy ride...

but its a damm thursty ride...and in this tragic country..its doest have a good resale value..nor demand...

Pajero IO is a good jeep but doesnt seems to be good in this country...Pajero IO is the JDM for its kind and and some came with a Turbo Intercooler GDI engine. its the high end version and some time back my dad also used it.. Comparatively its good on fuel..but in urban the max is 8 km/L. But when selling it back again...we had a hard time... but there wasnt too much issues with the jeep..and onlything was u gotta know the engine management in GDI... which is gotta be very specific about the OCTAL number of the fuel u pump as because the GDI requires premium fuels...and in SL then again..max we got is 93 (they say its 95 but its not..) over and all its a good ride....but the Pajero IO came to sri lanka as a brand new vehicle named as Montero IO and its a non GDI model with a 1.8CC engine. But there are very limited number of jeeps roaming in SL which came as BN...

Honda CRV..is reliable and good on fuel and its a practical jeep for SL. Speaking about a comfy ride...CRV falls in to the last when comparing with ur prefered models (im referring to CRV mid 90s models and late 90s models...) because CRV also equipped with showa shox..and showa shox by default its slightly stiff when comparing with other brands...other than that CRV is a good ride..good on Fuel and its a practical SUV...

Yup, Mazna has got parts for it... you can check with them. The one issue I saw with the Tribute is that the door locks tend to break, cos people tug them too hard.

Agents ? Dont make me laugh.

the reason Mazda brand is in such a state is mainly due to their lackadaisical attitude.

Parts as Bugatti says are available at M*** motors and Bugatti is THE MAN.

re sale : got for 2.8 & sold for 2.3 is not too bad considering ...depends how long she used it.

The re sale value of Mazdas being difficult is a myth. When you start looking for one , they are very hard to come by ( Good / maintained ones of course).

Speak to the Ma*** motors guy / drop Bugatti a PM and then decide mate.

I also love the Maruti Gypsey - now will anyone ever say anything good about that ?

Ha ha never. But its a super offroad performer , 1000 cc aluminium engine , light and easy to drive . Will do about 10 KMPl, and you can buy a nice one for under a million smackers.....but the all important Sri Lankan image & Tom Dick & Harr'ys opinions will dissuade the best ! <_<

hey guys,

sorry for asking..

what is mazna? a spare parts place? if so, how can i contact them?

MAZNA motors is a specalist for mazda and located at Boralesgamuwa.

thanks a lot..

i have heard that tribute hasnt got much spare parts.so thats why it is hard to sell..is it so?

im not looking for a suv with 4 wheel drive..im mostly going on colombo and suburbs and may be occasional journeys to places like upcountry and down south.

the CRV is too much for me in the sense that it wont fit my budget..

are there any specific issues with tribute..? i mean some car models of some brands are known to have certain probelms.. like that, is the tribute also ,associated with something similar?

i really like mazda cars..have used em thruout..i cannot afforst the mazda 3 yet..so thats why i want to settle fr the tribute SUV..plus it looks ok..(cant say looks good tho)

but lots of ppl have been discouraging me..they suggest stuff like suzuki escudo even..im wondering why..

Mazda vehicles are damn good especially the sweet sound of the engine.

I used a Mazda3. It was quiet fuel efficient as well.

The Mazda Tribute was designed for the Canadian Market. Therefore traction control should be damn good because their roads are mostly slippery.

But it was not imported by Carmart except for an order.

Parts are available at Asiri Motors & not that bad in price too. (I dont mean its cheap).

For your budget range, a Suzuki Escudo is fine because the Parts are even cheaper, available & believe me its fuel efficient too (I mean the 1600cc one)

It has good features like climate control A/c & even 4wd. I have even driven it.

One of my good friend used it & sold it last month for 2mill.

Please be careful if you want to go for the Pajero io GDI. Its a JDM which is only suited for Japan.

Since Sri Lankan petrol is not good, you may experience serious issues with regard to the High Pressure Fuel Pump which runs on the GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection). This pump cannot be repaired because its a sealed type one.

Even though it may be a small unit, still it will cost you a good amount (Even a recon one)

Its a damn good vehicle for a very good price but with a very very bad fuel pump.

Try to find a Suzuki Escudo 1600cc. Afterall A*W is the agent for Suzuki in SL who are way much better than Carmart (Carmart is pure shit) :violent-smiley-030:

Other than the fuel consumption there is no any weak points in that. Our company had one which has got 6 cylinders 2000 cc automatic and did only 5-6 km in colombo and hardly did 7 km out station,

Very comfort ride and very good in handling. It was sold recently due to fuel problem and spent very little for maintenence for 3 years.

Hey Man!

If you want fuel efficiency, you should contact this Fiber Optic dude called "Crisco Nihal"!

He owns the most fuel efficient car on earth.

He'll tell you how he got his "Toyota Allion" which does 19-20 kmpl in colombo.

Just joking man, but please check out this link. Its full of fun. :violent-smiley-030:

Crisco Nihal is the star dude in this thread. :violent-smiley-099:

I don't think it was designed for the Canadian market in particular, but for North America and Europe overall. Its based off a common Mazda/Ford platform and shares a lot of things in common with the Ford Escape. Of the two I think The Mazda offering was designed to be the sportier option between the two although I fail to see how.

Its a good choice if you want a smallish suv for hauling the family around; but if you want an off-roader or something with an aggressive road presence I suggest you look else where.

I've never owned any of these 3 vehicles but have "associated" with em!

2 of ma relatives had Tributes. Just loved them. the comfort and the pulling. only downside (to my knowledge) was fuel consumption. 5-6 kmpl. Im not sure of the maintainability n parts but its a fun ride.

Another relative owned a GDI Turbo. teak steerin n all. luxury. kinda smaller than the Tribute. Tribute is the biggest. but very good on fuel. They were at Gampola and it did 10+ kmpl Gampola to Colombo. smooth ride too. but heard GDI unit goes faulty coz of our bad fuel and then u had it!

A colleague at work owned an escudo. Ugly car it was! I dont like the look. Good pulling tho. according to him, said it did 6-7 kmpl. It's smaller than the Tribute rem.. it just didnt have that "oomph" to it!

can anybody enlighten me on the suzuki excudo..

can i get a 2003/2004 model for 22 lacks?

how is the jeep?reliable?

A one in good condition! No way!

The 5 seater may be at least 2.7mil & a 7 seater may be way above 3mil.

I mean the price of a vehicle in mint condition man.

But there is a gearbox issue in the Suzuki Grand vitara which is not a major issue.

Talk to a person at A*W. They are the agents.

Hi Sonick. For the interest of the SUV fans, could you let us know whether you bought an SUV and details of your experience with it such as comfort, handling, power and fuel consumption? The current market price too would be handy for the others who are looking for similar SUVs

dear guys,

i did not go for a SUV..

After so much of thinking about pros and cons..i finally decided to go for a car..thinking of resale value too..
