Sevanagala Rally 2009

I wasn't at the event but Rizvi Farouk won, with Ashan Silva second, Shafraz Junaid third, Dinesh Jayawardene fourth and Dinesh Deheragoda fifth after what I heard were mechanical issues. Maybe mivec.turbo himself can give us a solid report on what happened. I heard he was leading the rally going into Sunday but something obviously went wrong.

Unfortunately for DD, his fifth place finish put him in a points tie for the lead of the championship with Rizvi but since Rizvi won more rallies, he won the 2009 National Rally Championship. I believe that this is the first time Dinesh has not won the national title since the inception of special-stage rallying in 2002.

suppose the "X" is not really living upto expectations... last time around it was a broken accelerator pedal! wonder what happened this time :(

See this picture. This was an fantastic jump you will rarely see. could say its not shorter than 30feet long jump.

but this jump & landing cause all the mechanical failures he had and cost him 2009 rally championship. Well Done Mivec.Turbo for all the effort given and the crew for replace the blown turbo in just 2 hours immiditely after a special stage.

will 2010 be minus the evo10 or will they find a way track down and iron out most of the issues that seems to be plaguing the X....

Super shot! Poor bloke.. :unsure: This may be my completely pointless opinion, But I really think he should go back to the evo ix. Not only was it BLOODY fast, it's seems to be way more tougher than the X... :unsure:

The X is an all-new chassis and features an all-new engine so some teething problems are to be expected. The VII had similar problems when it was launched and even internationally, only now are teams getting to grips with the new car. The evolution of the species has to continue and I'm sure that once these reliability issues are sorted out, DD will be able to show the car's true pace. Mind you, until this problem he was faster than all the other GT cars entered.

Next year should be good and I cannot wait for the MRA Pelwatte Rally 2010 in January.

Sevanagala rally for me was indeed a memorable event for 2 reasons…..one being that I lost a years hard work by mere 0.8 seconds :action-smiley-060: and the second being the jump which I am not sure if I would repeat something similar…. :rolleyes:

However my fullest respect for Rizvi Farouk who won 2 rallies and for all the Subaru fans Rizvi created history to win a Championship in SL in an Impreza for the very first time :alc: World over the STi is a very competitive car and we just didn’t have a driver who would compete a whole Championship/season in a competitive Subaru….and now we have one :)

As for the Evo fans, look forward to a thrilling Championship in 2010 :)
