Hi Guys.... anyone know the Price of an ECU ? New or Used ? Where to get one ?

Car is Civic EXi (2000 - D15Z4 Engine Automatic )

you get used ones in shops around delkanda area...

bought one for my sprinter sometime ago and i think i got it for 8k or summin like that..

and i believe Devinda_Z has a contact of a guy who fixes ECU's...

I was trying to explore that route myself but needed the car back ASAP so went for the used ecu option over a possible repair

dunno if it's the same for your model but when i was hunting for one...took the old ecu with me...the forum member VVTI was helping me with the technicals :)

when we found an ecu in a shop that's meant for my engine...first obvious thing is to check whether it's AT or MT...

AT would work for both manual and auto but MT only works for manual boxes...

In my case i couldn't find a MT one so had to get and AT one... Mind you the original one that came with the car was marked AT/MT both

but just to be 100% sure...we removed the outer casing of both my old busted ecu and the "new" one and cross checked the chip numbers to see if the match.

hope that helps

Cool.. thanks guys... now the important question :-) cost of the full job (ECU re-map....etc) ... :-) any ideas ?

dude...i was on the opinion that your stock ECU is busted and you needed a working one...

performance ECU's are a different kettle of fish... I think what Elvis_Pil was talking about was that...

you can talk to Zackie from tuned ichips and get a map for the ecu you're getting...

I don't think you get custom ecu re-mapping in SL just yet... maybe somebody can correct me if i'm wrong. I think even Zackie would be getting a pre programmed map for that particular motor rather than creating one from scratch

:-) my ECU is not busted... the reason for the replacement is cos the fuel economy is bad & after getting the car checked by a few Experts (Zakie, Rohan, Upul) and finally the Agent ...the agent said the injector open time is far too much for this model and since the sensors are also working fine, it's a bug in the ECU. As you might know.. the EK3 ECU cannot be re-programmed... hence i'm thinking of replacing & the re-map is to get a bit more power (if possible) and i'm also looking @ getting the K&N air filter fitted as well. Hope this clears things up :)

Did you get your injectors cleaned properly? Sometimes the injectors could be 'sticking'? Dont try to replace the brain for a faulty knee joint.. ;)

get your injectors cleaned and serviced and see. Could be a varnish buildup inside the lines and causing the spring inside to work slower than usual.

Yeah... did a injector & throttle body cleaning from P@tStop as well :-) no luck

Zakie checked the sensors as well and said the r working perfectly.... no cat cos it's a 2000 brand new

No catlike converter??? strange I thought every car newer cars has it, cos it is a must to have unit to measure exhaust gas and reduce to pollution / increase fuel economy, etc.

u cant prog a stock ecu here.( so far) u must cupple another to do ..zakie do it well. just run with the org ecu if u runing day to day mo thn enough power. di u chek ya wireharness if sm out cut n chop it it may result to a ecu failerae u talking abt one injector or smthng. also thers a small unit where wires form yo injectors connect check if its loose or smthng this thindonce came in d integra n there ws a small box whr d wires connect..pls do a check with a electric guy too not a major cost

I think this will help him.. why not fix a different ECU and do the testing and see injector open time and decide?

electrical system was checked by zakie and rohan..they both said nothing is wrong.....got a contact who has a programable eg8 ecu which zakie said should be able to fix with a few mods on to my car....have 2 questions...

1. Is it worth getting it done...my main goal is to get better fuel econ and a bit more power

2. Any other options? Need cost estimates as well guys..

Thanks for all the help

i doubt you will get more power and better fuel at the same time.

more power over stock usually means you have to burn more fuel to get more energy...
