Hi all,

Need a quick comparision between a honda Civic EK3 & CITY (1998), i found there is a big price difference between EK3 and City, i was wondering wht is the reason, very thankfull if anyone give me a explanation for that....

Also what is the normal fuel efficiency of this model?

Is it worth to buy a Honda City 1998(YOM) car for a 10.65lks?

Car in very gud condition, 2nd owner, manual, 300-xxxx

Thanks in advance...

City's were assembled in other countries while the Ek3 was assembled in Japan

It was assembled in Malaysia,Pakistan,India,Thailand,Philippines

thanks for quick response.....

If City assembled in such countries, it's quality should definitely lower than civics..

Anyway what is your suggestion about buying a City?

The City Vtec which comes with a D15B engine develops 115 Bhp and its Light weight of 985 kgs make it go from 0-100 in less than 10 secs

Its a nice car to have and also it has good handling

But mchn dnt have an Idea about the 1 u r Buyin (98 model)

anywa the quality of fit an Finish is little lower than the Ek3

Here is the concept.

For Fuel Economy & Budget ---> City

For Performance & Elegance ---> Civic

NOTE: Ask the Honda City 1998 Model (one that you mentioned earlier) for 10 lakhs. If you can get it for that price it is really worth. Even 10.50 is not a bad deal. But my valuation is 10 lakhs :action-smiley-025: :action-smiley-025: :action-smiley-025:

my budget between 10.5 -11lks... wht is the best option...? Buying a Honda City or go for a another option,

city is alryt but i prefer the Vtec over the pre Vtec

u can go for an EG8 Vtec for that price

if U r going for Toyota u can Buy a Carina AT 192,Corolla Ae 100,Corolla Wagon,Tercel,Ceres

Nissan-Sunny Fb14,FB13,Cefiro,Pulsar,AD,march,Presea

It up to u to decide which 1 to buy because the car should fulfill u r needs and it should suit u

I own a 2002 City Vtec, manual, it was brought down from Singapore. Manufactured in Thailand. Fuel economy on the Vtec will be between 12-14Kmpl, good performance too. A 2000 model City Vtec, with English plates should go for between 13-15 depending on mileage & condition. You won't be disappointed with either car but stick with the Vtec. And if possible get one that's 2000 or newer. Newer the car, less maintenance you'd have to do.

thanks guys....

My original dream is a EK3 or Lancer CK2, but EK3 not within my budget and really hard to find a gud CK2... thats y i thought to go for a City... anyway its seems to be a bad option now......

my recommendation to you is to stretch your budget about 200k more and go for a 2000-2001 VTEC model and u'd get better value for money. my experience is with 2001 vtec model.

with automatic transmission it does 9km in heavy traffic and as much as 16km when running long distances without traffic (provided u r light on the paddle)

with manual transmission it does 11-12km in traffic and about 13-14 when running long distances without traffic.

the 98 model u mentioned should be alright if ur single most important concern is fuel economy and cheap maintenance (compared to other honda's). (u sacrifise interior quality and options)

bdw city vtec engine is not d15b it is b15c an inferior one than the d15

MAYBE Vi-RS comes from factory with better handling, more accessories, more visual mods, 99-00 model year and more hype

  • Auto City Traffic 9-10Kmpl Long Distance 12-14 maximum 15 ( depend on your driving style)
  • Manual City Traffic 11-12Kmpl Long Distance 14-15 maximum 16 ( depend on your driving style)

Civic and City are two different models. Price of a 1997 civic is more or less equal to 2002/2003 city. Civics are made in Japan and Citys are from India or Thailand.Civic is better than city in most respects.
