guys,

i want to know some basic facts on Toyota Rav 4 (1996-1998). how is the realibility and the avilability of spares? is it expensive to maintain? and the fuel consumption in manual mode. and i saw a few varients availble as rav 4 L and J. what are the diffrences and need an idea about the going market rate. basically, is it a good vehicle to have and for long term use?

thanks.

yooo hooooo... VVTI..... where RRRRRRRRRRRR you....

here!!!

No clue about the year models machang sorry. My GF had a 2005 model B.New, done only 25K, in showroom condition but I managed to convince her to part with it and get a diesel double cab instead.... :)

She got around 8Kmpl on that 2 litre VVTi power plant and I did drive over some really rough roads in Mathugama once with no issue. AC, PS, CD player, PW, alloys and Power mirrors. No other gizmos. It had AWD and seemed very stable on moderate speeds. Revs a lot but doesn't seem to deliver the goods that enthusiastically. But then it was an Auto.

The models he is talking about I am not sure, but those letters denoted trim levels. If I am not mistaken. The one we had was a J and we sold it for 4.5M.

AS far as engine and tranny parts are concerned it is a Toyota after all and parts will be available. The rest is Rav4 Specific. But I am not sure. Don't know anyone else who has one. But enough Rav4s around to ensure parts availability.
