wow... i ike the nose section... seriously hot... though nothing to beat the R1... Shark, what are your thought on that.. are therer like brand loyalties in bie\kes as well.. like in cars where some always go Subaru while others go Mitsu...

hmm well brand loyalty in bikes is not as far fetchd as in cars...there's very tight competition in bikes n no one brand holds the crown for long enuf to keep owners satisfied...in SL the hondas r d most practical option...revs like a bitch n freely available...but if ppl import as many suzukis, yamahas n kawasakis as they do hondas...it'd take u a lot of test rides to choose the best bike...n trust me there's sumthng lackin in every bike dat anothr bike wud specialise in...it all comes down to wat u want...comfort?top end?handling?acceleration or even riding position...no single bike has it all...plus a honda cbr250 maybe better than d other 250's but the yamaha R1 is better than the other 1000cc bikes so its impossible to stick to one brand...

hmm interesting!

was it on this thread that i heard that learning to ride a motorcycle is a hour's work... about a week or 2 back i got to sit on the Suzuki Katana i had mentioned before... remember the 1100cc bike? anyway, i could barely get it off the stand.. so dam heavy!!! never sat ona CBR though... wonder what its like...

starting to worry if i'm physically strong enough to even lift a 250cc bike at this rate...:D

Precisely ... in this country where big bikes do have legal issues .... This would be the next best thing

Well there seems to be some discussion about this bike in the net that these are just a good photo shop job.

And again there are some images from a magazine or something.

Anyways if this ever do come I don't think this will be popular in sl until reconditioned ones come. I mean the brand new would be tooo expensive.

Definitely. The price will be the biggest issue. If this ever come out it will be awesome for sure.

dont think so machan...people who can afford these things brand new will deffa go for a recon HC monster instead...so i think this'll only appeal to those rich wannbe biker posers to ride around colombo.

but still it's the same damn pics goin around...photoshopped is more like it...but yamaha is long overdue for a new 250,and they better ditch the carbs this time around.

I too saw some forums which say that this was a photoshop image ... but the fact that it's come in a Jap magazine also means that Yamaha definitely has plans to release a 250 to the market. This bike seems pretty real to me & is also supposed to be EFI. If u could put this photo alongside the new R6 & notice quite a lot of significant differences, which also proves that it isnt photoshopped. Those who know YZF-R-series bikes will definitely know.

And as for affordability & buying this type of machine ........... high capacity machines are still illegal in this country. Anyone who'd like to enjoy a good ride on the road without having to run into problems with the law, will definitely consider buying something like this.

Trust me ;) I know ... I have a high capacity monster, purely for track use.. and I have a totally street legal 250 for the road. I'd never risk putting my R1 on the road and I'm quite happy with the performance of a 250 on the road.

Also .. just fyi ... according to the Federation of Motorcycle sports in SL, the current road racing national championship event is for 250cc 4stroke motorcycles, which is currently dominated my CBRs purely because it has a better market in the country (availability of bikes, spares & resale value) , although the Kawa ZX-250C is much faster. If this YZF250 comes down here, there will be people who would want to ride something different, something superior & will pay that additional amount for it, even if it means buying it brand new. Not just the rich wannabe biker posers :D lol

Thats just my 2cents worth for u :D

Y dont u try out some 600RR or 600F?

Sri lanka's road legal capacity limit is 350cc. .. The authorities are more strict now... So I wouldn't recommend anything higher for the road.

And for those of you who didnt know this interesting fact .... most CBR250RRs & bikes alike are being declared & registered at the Dept of Motor traffic , by these brokers as 125cc , because anything that exceeds 200cc gets slapped with nearly 100% duty. Also the higher capacity bikes get registered as 250cc & the buyer ends up paying about extra minimum of 45k just to forge the documents. 90% of the current sports bikes are brought down to SL in anyways other than the legal way & documents are forged locally.
