Dated Transfer Papers

megatron

Question

Hi guys,

I purchased a car recently, and the previous owner handed me filled and dated transfer papers. But I couldn't get the vehicle transferred to my name since I had to undergo a surgery and that had me bed ridden for sometime. (and wasnt in a position to sign the transfer papers) (MTA 6)

I need to get the vehicle transfered now, will there be an issue since the date on the form has lapsed over a month now?

This will not be a problem. You can get it transfered, if you have all the relevent papers.

further clarification on this, if the date of the transfer is within 06 months from current date, you can do it through one day service if you wish so. if the date is older than 06 months, it's mandatory for you to go through the normal process.

Meaning I could go for the one day service yeah? So do i have to hang around to collect the new set of papers or do they post it?

cheers

well, day before I handed over the documents at 10.30 and got the transferred document at 12.30, wasn't much of a difficult process :)

anyway as you say there is a signed date on MTA6, sometimes you might have to pay a small amount as a fine for the delay, am not sure about it though

it states that u shud take MTA 6 (A)..IN THE FORMS

shudnt it be MTA 6 (B1)?

As I remember... A is where previous owner also has to fill and sign. B is for the new owner, need to be filled with new owners details. You have to handover both.
