The best option is Toyota Carina. even there are other options such as,

Honda Civic EK3 ferio (sporty look)

Nissan Sunny FB15 (parts are available in bulk and really cheap)

Carina or EK3 ViRS. I think EK3 more fuel efficient than Carina

And relatively new Mazda 323

good that this topic came up guys. i saw a 1999 civic ferio virs yesterday. it was GP-, fully loaded with dvd, r/camera n stuff. car seemed to be in very good condition. all shocks n tires were replaced. car had done 193000km. the owner was asking for 1,975,000/=. is it worth the price? seems like i can get it for about 50k less. its a purple colour car. i need help on this guys cos im not sure of the market price for this car!!!! lemme know pls.

i think i saw that car..somewhere in pepliyana? 193 on the clock is a concern. and i suppose its auto. then the CVT box has to be checked before buying. anyway 19.75 is too much for that. you can get good virs for 19 max if its auto. a manual one would be little more expensive.

the car is in attidiya. he told me he replaced the engine once. i drove the car but there didnt seem to be any problem in the gearbox. so u mean 1.9 mil is maximum what its worth? thanks for the advice buddy.

very true buddy. good cars are very hard to find. plus even if u come across a good car they ask for a thumping price. cos one of my friends had a virs in kandy. silver car with english plates in immaculate condition which had done less than 100000 km. the guy sold it for 2.1 million. thats the main reason i had a look at this car cos of the price difference. now tat u said its too much i guess i have to drop the idea!!!!

sometimes its still worth paying a bit more for a good car. i paid 18.75 for a manual civic vi few months ago. i knew its too much but didnt have any other option at that time. but a wonderful car. few weeks later my frend was looking for a one and we came across a white virs advertised on AL and we missed it due to an unknown reason though the owner agreed for our offer of 18.5. then my frend settled down for a 2000 vti (singapore version) at 17.5. that was again a good car and worth the price. dont be in a hurry. take your time. you should be able to find a good one. will let you know if i come across any.

on top of that manual Vi or Virs are very rare to find. dont know whether the manual version is rare here or owners are not selling.. <_<

i guess the reason is that they value the car according to the condition of it, not YOM or first registration date

these are the best choices for 2 mil :action-smiley-025:

And the sad part is this person just sold his perfect condition Vi to buy a ViRS, lol. Anyway yeah both are manual & yeah, manual ViRS are somewhat rare, maybe importers prefer automatics more nowdays. Imo paying so much for a EK3 with added bling is just useless, unless it's an Ek4 or something :D

paying anything over 20 laks for a virs would be a waste and there are so many better options for that budget. even ES 1 is eligible.

i suppose you are more concerned about finding a good deal than a good car. i suppose in the longer run the opposite of that attitude would pay off dividends. quality remains long after price is forgotten. my advice to you is this. don't trust the owner of the car about shocks or engine. take the car to stafford and do a full checkup. if there are any major issues then bargain on that basis. else buy the car. when you are spending nearly 2 million on a car it is a shame if you miss a good example coz of an amount less than 5% of your total investment. banks have started to give loans north, left, right and south. every tom, dick and harry is going to get a car loan and buy a car and then they will realise that there are not many in the market to sell because there has been a severe drought of cars since of late!

with current prices, civic is turning out to be a rather bad value for money proposition. especially those non-vtec models that crooks sell with only a VTEC or VTI badge or even ViRS stickers to idiots. but still nothing can beat a proper vtec model in great shape as a day to day car of an average car enthuciast.

What do you all think about 2003/2004 Mitsubishi Lancer?

Too true. Almost every car (Civic) I checked out was either auto transmission or cvt. I'm yet to find a manual VTEC... Man it's enough to wanna bang your head against the wall!
