Not allowed to advertise in the forums. What's the model you are looking for? As ShanX said- there are a few advertised, are you looking for one as a budget daily runner or one to keep as a classic?

Guys i found 1971 Ford Capri MK1 GT for 285000/-.is it worth for that price?

http://yfrog.com/9fcapyj

Well price is all relative. I too had a GT Capri. Does this one have the 6 meter dash ? With RPM Meter?

The biggest cost will be tinkering , painting .

Then tires, interior, electrics, battery, etc

There is a member here who goes under the screen name "Mc3anix" or something that effect.

the man is an automotive mechanical engineer to my knowledge and has been working for alfa r in malaysia...

I happen to bump into him a few weeks a ago and that bugger had a capri in pretty good nick...

i think it was his BIL's car but if you can get through the bugger i'm sure he can give a good review about this model...

let me see if i can send him a message and get him to take a look at this thread...

hi guys

Are there ford capris available for sale in srilanka?

thnks

Hey mate... Sorry cz im just checking in on some time... I've been a lil bz these days restoring a Mk2 1600 Capri. Its my BIL's car... Well for the questions that u have asked and what i would suggest.

1. There are capri's for sale in SL but it takes some time to look for them. In fact i do kw one for sale in Jayala area, but its in crap condition.

2. The GT Capri that you have shown us is a damm good one, reason why. Well because of its body styling. If we had seen it earlier, we would have definitly got it  ....

3. From the pic the body looks pretty ok but who know's what you will find once you go check it out fully ;)... And its lacking a font nickle bumper... And also if im not mistaken, the Mk1's came with four round lights in the front <_< ...

4. Spare parts could be a real bitch because its pretty expensive. But we get down most of the parts from the UK... http://www.burtonpower.com/ or there is a dude in panchikawatte who only deals with classic ford spares. Jayawardena motors i guess...

5. The tinkering cost us around 80k because there was a sun roof and we took it off. Want to get the car to its original condition.

6. Buying a car like that needs alot of attention, if its been restored, it should be done really well.

7. My BIL spent 390k for his capri, which was a lil too much. So far we have almost reached to 200k on the restoration.

Here's my number 0775353620. Call me if there's anything that you want to know... I'll hook u up with some of my contacts...

Yea macho... But all depends on how you plan on restoring it... You could do it in a budget or the costly way. But for around 6lks you could do a good job on the car. So far we have spent almost 200k and the car is around 75% completed...

The restoration costs all depends on the condition of the car...

But trust me after its all completed, you will feel like a pimp daddy driving it around :angry-smiley-048: ... The respect given on the road, the thumbs up from other drivers just makes you feel like your the slayer of all cars...

cheerz mate and i hope u make a good decision on the car

Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread but have you ever seen a capri with the Xpack kit in Sri Lanka?

Has anybody tried to fit one on here? I always dreamed of getting a Capri done up. Someday hopefully! Classic British muscle! Good luck with your project!

Machan to have a car properly restored, you would need to learn about the car yourself. Get the car and buy all the reading materials and such and study em well. A 100% stock restoration is a tedious process. You would not be looking at one single place to do the job but a few specialized places. You would have to supervise the process yourself too. Now if you just want to get the car running and look nice then it's a less time consuming and cheaper process as you can always improvise with stuff.

Yes bro,

Time what i dont have.i want be able to supervise the progress either.Im thinking of handing over evrything to a trustworthy ,professional person with a reasonable cost

Do you think its ok to buy a Capri which is already being restored?

I saw a car in a AL advertisement....its a bit of adulterated

What you think the price gonna be?Im not willing to go for Drags.Just wanna use it for daily runs

Thnx

Actually even after a good restoration- keeping the car in pristine condition is not an easy task- with the risk of rust always a factor. Also a 40+ year old car will anyway have its own issues that come with age & added problems associated with our roads. I personally would not use it as a daily runner.

Got that Bro

I will think about that
