Why not nissan? i know some models have its fair share of issues, but so does all other brands. Your talking about possibly the second most popular car brand in Sri Lanka. Im sure there is a reason for it

You aren't likely to get a clear answer to that dude... In the parellel universe where the gent who made that comment lives, nissans are apparently the MOST UNRELIABLE CARS IN THE WORLD!!

Now rather than arguing over Nissan, can we please provide some facts on Micro Trend to the initiator of the thread please?

Good point. The link samishka posted provides a pretty good overall picture. It clearly states that the car seems a much better bet than a Chery QQ. It seems like essentially the same vehicle as the micro trend so i guess the same points apply. Reliability and long term durability Vs a used Nissan, Honda, Mazda or toyota etc is probably not going to be as great. Also, just like David Peiris with the QQ, Micro will probably have the stranglehold on the parts market, so buyers may have no other choice than the agents for spares.

Taking the lot into consideration, A used japanese car is a much better option, or if the whole "New Car" thing is that important, perhaps one of the indians, since they at least have proven themselves by now and also have a decent parts network.

Considering that Toyotas are falling down considerably in the last few months, I think Nissan prices might shoot up.

The Micro I have no experience with.... Ask me about Nissans.

What was the best option considering the Indian alternatives, is it better to go for a Micro Trend or New Micro privilege than going for an Alto or a Maruti 800?

My opinion is that Alto is better :)

Well we wouldnt be able to answer that with any degree of accuracy unless we have tried out various contenders individually now would we?

Thats why its always best for the prospective buyer to check out all the alternatives (Do some research online, take a test drive, etc) and also consider the all important maintenance and spare parts aspect.

As seen recently by a forum member's experience with a Chery, cheap chinese cars which have no spare parts backup outside of the agents can end up becoming a fairly large financial burden after a couple of years.
