Yes! This is the modern incarnation. Its always great to read write-ups from the event, because the stories that come out of these events are truly phenomenal. If I'm not mistaken, the famous motoring journalist Brock Yates pioneered this event and he has some great stories about dodging cops through multiple states etc.

so this is illegal is it? but lokos like a very ceremonial thing though... considering that its int he broad daylight and the crowds.. not to mention that there were some cops walking along the cars in some pics...

the race is not illegal.. the speeds that htey travel at are...i read somewhere that these contestants all have their lawyers on stand by to get them out of a jam...

when they went trhough DC a few years back, these cars were all pulled over by state troopers for speeding...

not every1 breaks d speed limit...a lot of ppl use the 'moderate speed-longer engine life' strategy...its more abt endurance

Yeah, its a long distance thing. More rally type. There is nothing saying u need to speed. U can always follow the local speed laws There was an Ice Cream van last time Besides, its not all about coming first, there is other prizes too.

Yup it started off as a rich mans thing but now alot of people participate, more like a rally where you get lost and find your way out/ quickest routes and crazy crazy parties at night..
