Uditha88
Friends, What is the best automatic transmission type for "Nissan Presea R11" or all Nissan cars? Are there any differences between different brand?
aamarakoon
It is usually indicated in the ATF dipstick or under the hood. Had a nissan march K 11 which specified NS-1 (around 7500/= in 2007) for 4 liters. But some Marchs could use others AFAIK. So better to check the individual vehicle. nazly
I have a Nissan March K11 and on my last service the guy mentioned to me that the ATF level is a little bit low.. He wanted to top up but I said not to coz I was not sure with the ATF type he had.. He checked using the dipstick on different gear positions (P,R,N,D,2,1) I want to know * Is this the right method to check ATF level? * How often the ATF fuel should be changed and whats the best method/place to do so (Company or any service place would do?) * Is it possible to top up with a correct ATF type? I posted my Q here itself coz this relates to this thread. If this has already discussed on a another thread please give me the link.. Thanks Guys

Thanks Guys I got some knowledge in same area recently. Let me answer... 1. ATF level should be checked when engine is hot & running. No matter the gear position. "park" even will do. [Changing gears needed while it's filled by the machine] [Keep in mind, the level goes down in significant amount after engine is hot & running] 2. ATF should be replaced in every 30 000 km [Don't believe on the color. Because oil thickness & other factors change] Better get it changed with the machine support. Though can be changed like normal draining & refilling. Feel like La*** service centers are good. 3. Best way to use manufacture recommended type. It's said that it's mentioned in "dipstick". But I couldn't find. GM. Chrysler have their own products.(Even Toyota, Nissan). But for us, Mo*** is good & bit expensive. Or we can go for Da**** III Hope this is useful.... aamarakoon
Oil change intervals are specified by the manufacturer. That's why I said it depends on the individual manufacturer. e.g. Nissan NS 1 - 40000km Toyota D II - 15000km You cannot go by the oil color. On the dipstick it may be pink, but once you drain all only you can appreciate the true color. I never let service people to top up or change by machine. Instead, I personally prefer to drain the sump & refill. And please keep in mind ATF level do not usually drop unless there is a leak. If the type is not engraved on the dipstick, there should be a sticker underneath the hood. (Probably in Japanese!) nazly
Thanks Uditha. I have done about 20K from the last ATF change by the previous owner from the records. I better check it out anyway. Do u think checking out and A*W is necessary since they have Nissan specific material and expertise? But they are always expensive even to check it out.. Sorry for being so specific about things. This is my first car so learning the whole car maintenance thing little by little ;-)
