I notice that most of the Indian networks (e.g. Dish TV India) etc., are advertising HDTV packages - my question is - are any of these available in Sri Lanka? I notice we have a few places selling Dish TV for example - do any of them offer HD decoders/packages?

Also, any idea when local DTH providers will go HD?

dunno about HDTV but "Sic transit gloria mundi" is some heavy philosophy! :o

Well I'm tired of seeing ads announcing 1080i HD broadcasting in India when we are still stuck with SD :(

Hmm well i doubt HD broadcasts will come to SL soon, they will be gr8 fer live events like football n of course F1 racing.

But the closest we can come to HD enetertainment is Blurays which are sold both as copies and originals. M entertainment seems to have a wide selection of original Bluray films. Almost all the flatscreens sold today in SL have HD capabilities including the computer monitors. Plus Bluray players are available at most agents sellin Panasonic, Sony and LG.

Fun Fact: make sure your HD Tv / monitor is HDCP certified or it may not work with most hd decoders or players.

I saw an ad on the back of the last Sunday Times for Dish TV HD broadcast's for ESPN, Discovery and a few others... Worth checking out...

I dont think HD tv is out in SL yet....
