The New Hyundai Sonata 2010

Question

Posted

I have seen the latest Sonata and it looks fantastic. The design is a copy of a benz. I want to know if anyone in Sri Lanka is using it and the performance ( user reviews). It looks like a merc so if it drives like one ( even close) I will buy one

Er... no, it's not a copy of a Benz.

hard to see why you call its a copy of Benz, but it looks good and 2011 one seems even (much) better.

I dont have used it but even US reviewers are saying its a great buy at market segment, I've even saw that it ranked better than Honda Accord, maybe lower price has helped that as well.

Anyway any idea on how much it costs now in Sri Lanka?

Wikipedia - Hyundai Sonata 2010

The steeply raked front and rear glass give the Sonata a slightly coupe-like silhouette, much like that of the Mercedes-Benz CLS and the Volkswagen CC

Sonata has a very bad image to shake off in SL tho.....

There's a review on it in this month's Motor Mag, its a very nice car.....and u are somewhat correct, the shape and the front closely copies the new E Class Coupe......the back is more a cross of a BMW/Audi

7.2Mil is a high for a sonata. I was thinking at about 3Mil. might as well get a 3.8Ltr V6 used Montero!! :)

I know I am right cause when I saw it I thought it was a merc (there are plenty here, small area with lots of high end cars) so when I went in front and saw the badge well the rest is history! And you gys are right, it the model is the 2011 and not the 2010.

Japanese manufactures should plan ahead for the Korean competition. Koreans are doing very well at building cars now. i wish there are Korean scooters in our market.

7.2 mil for a brand new car. It's only about 22k US. And Monteros don't carry the same class as a car does imo. :P

Depends on the car right. are you saying that driving a car is more classy than a Montero? :)

Maybe.... :) A nice car will always warrant a second look. A Montero? Ummm.... not really. Not even if it's driven by a hot naked chick.... :D

Okay, maybe if it's driven by a hot naked chick.

I've driven the new Sonata, it got more than second looks......people on the road were pausing and staring.

That might be a good thing.... Or a very very bad thing...

thatz coz it's new. heck! ppl even stare at the new toyota passo here coz itz new!!!

this very same people will look down upon this same sonata when car ages, which is not the case for a merc, bmw or even a camry or an accord. for many people sepnding 7 mil, perception is as important as any other consideration. i think we're at least a decade away from hyundai being able to beat the perception of less imformed markets like sri lanka.

but i must add that if you take perception away from the equation then a b/new car of this nature for 7 mil is a bloody big bargain for the money. i would'nt even compare that with an age old montero with so many repairs and troubles.

Looks like you have either had bad experience with the Montero or not used a 3.8Ltr V6 Montero. I have no probs at all with the Montero!!!

You got this right. This is the main reason for me to post this question. I thought it was a merc and went in for a closer look and then saw the badge :(
