I'm planning to buy one and spending nearly 3.8 mil. a 2007 Axela. But I'm confused whether i might not be able to sell it after wards. As the second hand market for Mazda in SL is not that catchy. People tend to go for boring allions and axios while few other who knows the real thing(True driving pleasure)will go for makes like Mitsubishi, Subaru and Mazda.

What do you guys think? Should i buy it? i like it a lot but i'm spending a lot in it too.

HI Lance

There are occasions that you buy a car use it for sometime and you sell it and make a profit out of it, Mazda is not a bad option it is a good car :) , if you don't want to loose any money after you use it and sell it back don't buy a car you can buy a land or House instead of ;)

thanks

regards

mate..Mazdas are really catching up in the sri lankan market and the the newer geneartion mazdas are equally good like other so called famous brands. if you are planining to keep the car for at least 5 to 6 years , you shouldn't be bothered about the second hand market. go for it. you will never regret your decision.

Even now you get a good second hand market for MAZDA cars.

Mazda is a good make. My BIL bought a Familia BJ3 in 2008 for 14.5 million and sold it for 1.7 million recently.

ever since honda abandoned the exciting car market mazda has since taken it's place. IMHO mazda3/axela turned it around for mazda brand. i am sure second-hand market will not be an issue for axela becuase of the following 3 reasons.

1) the new exciting image mazda brand has gotten as noted above.

2) competitor 141 corolla not having a significant advantage in fuel efficiency over the mazda as predecessor 121 had over familia/323.

3) spare parts and expertise becoming more available

i wish you good luck with purchase of your axela.

My Frnd

I also recommend you to go for a mazda. But dont think to make profit out of it.

The driving pleasure, the prestige and the performances are the best profits you can get.

Theres another option,go for a Second hand Mazda 3/Axela or a Permit car which you can buy for around 2.8mil.They are also in very good condition.

I also used MAzda 3 and believe me its the best car in the market for that price range.

GO FOR IT

Well... I guess the turning around part is true, but not sure about Honda giving it up.... The new FD series can vouch for that...

FD is not as good as EK and EG was against it's competition at the time. besides what is honda's replacement for S2000? what does Honda have to challenge GTR or LF-A? what ground breaking performance technology has honda mastered lately?

Nothing is more amusing than a former fanboy who feels "wronged" by his previously worshiped Icon....

You're welcome to your own opinion of course but personally speaking, having driven a 1.6 VTEC FD Civic with the (rare in SL) Manual box I was totally impressed by the drive. The willingness of that engine can only properly be exploited by the manual and it is a fantastic gearbox! Handling is also pretty damn good for it's class. IMO compared to an Axio purely as a driving experience, the Civic is definitely a much more enjoyable car. Although the Axio is better in the ride quality and refinement departments.

When you think about it, that has pretty much been the same story for every generation of civic previously as well when compared to the corresponding competition. So "FD is not as good as EK and Eg was against the competition" is really not a valid statement IMO.

Mind you that is just my opinion based on driving and evaluating the cars mentioned.

Nothing is more amusing than your driving and evaluating skills. i am not surprised when this comes from the same dude who could not observe any performance advantage in mazda axela that is 10hp up on mazda3.

on to the matter, about 15 years ago honda managed to build 1.5l sohc vtec engines with 130hp. now 1.6l sohc vtec engine in the same car you evaluated can only produce 122hp. honda has gone backwards in 15 years whereas all other manufacturers have increased the power efficiency of their cars. back to basics mr. amused!!!

what a silly asumption mate  you think they were struggling to produce a 1.6l i-vtec engine which produces 130hp and failed and ended up in 122hp??? :P

Yawn.... Classic Isurujosh, nothing logical to contribute so on with the personal attacks! You do provide a fair bit of entertainment mate. As for your assessment of my "driving and evaluating skills", well I'll let you know if an occasion arises that it becomes important to me what you think of them. I must add that the possibility of such an eventuality is fairly remote at the moment.

Of course, I tend to give a definite opinion on a vehicle after driving it for a period of time, I dont have your gift of being able to tell what a given vehicle feels like to drive by reading the brochure/spec sheet or standing next to it. What to do, not all of us are born with that talent I suppose.

I suppose it didnt occur to you that Honda may have a different set of priorities in their car building other than making fanboys wet their pants? Like meeting World fuel economy and emissions standards perhaps? Y'know, since they always have been a company that has cared about their green cred....

you are such a bemused person that i honestly feel sorry for you. wasn't i pointing out from the beginning it self that honda has shifted more attention to producing greener cars than more exciting cars? what was it about that you were trying to prove that i was wrong in the first place?

it isn't about stuggling to produce one. i am sure if honda wants they could have. but they just lack the willingness as they have set less importance on "performance" now. my original point was about that.
