How To Import A Car From Japan?

Hi all, can you please someone help me on how to import a car from Japan?

Could you please suggest some sites to contact? Has anybody imported from those?

What are the current taxes applicable? How to calculate the total money I would have to pay?

If this topic has already been discussed, please give the link. I have searched here, but couldn't find any relevant.

Buy the Sunday Papers.... If you give me about Rs. 10,000, I will buy the Sunday Papers fro you, cut out all the ads and post it to you...

Obviously you are too busy to read the papers on a Sunday...

Hi Pericles, I also had a doubt like that, but all of a sudden I didn't want to send that much of money to some untrusted party that I found via internet. As you said, as part of the research I am asking you guys. Thank you for your advice.

Hi VVTi, I am not asking about locally purchasing an imported car that are advertised in newspapers, rather I would like to personally import a car from Japan. Thanks for your feedback anyway.

look for a some one who does the business.there are many who import cars under your name and do only the clearing part.your will have to do all the money transferring part which you will learn on the process and clearly stated on earlier threads at AL.then you dont want to be afraid of the trustworthiness of the site.just go to such person and select the car on the site he will reserve the same for you with the total cost same time.Good luck.

Thank you. It seems there are lot of business people in this forum and it is dominated by them.

Where/Who are these business people you've come across here?.The are a couple of spammers and guerilla marketers occasionally...but dominated???I personally feel that is an insult to all the genuine members who take their time and effort to post here.Think twice before post something noob!

This forum is dominated purely by experts of automobiles as it should be.Take what you can extract from here and give what you can give to some body who asks help.and there is not a business involved here.All free.respect who deserves it.there are people supporting others for many years(not me at all).they will be hurt otherwise.then you are nothing.

Correction:

This forum is dominated by people who like cars. Not everyone is an "expert," most of us here just enjoy working, talking and drooling on cars.

I do agree on the old members here getting hurt. I was told masterdon the other day that he wasn't the best looking member on the site and he started crying.....

I have not blindly made that comment, but it was all about my experience in this particular thread. I posted a questions asking a help, some people really helped by sharing there experience, but I get messages to my inbox from those business people, that they can 'help' on this matter. I do not expect that people should disclose every details they know here, but as a forum if they cannot share something, they should not take advantage on others lacking of knowledge on this regard.

SREE made his comment advising me to contact one of those people when I have got those messages, and I guessed (forgive me if you are genuine) that it was one of them (he is new to the forum, and so do I). If he could help in anyway he could have been silent.

I am here in this forum after reading it for a long period and after believing and been attracted by the help people are sharing here. I am not intended to hurt anyone but I want to see the genuine of this forum remains as of now and not been affected by the activities of someone. I am completely respectful and thankful to the helpers here. This is the only valuable forum available to us , Sri Lankans, to share our thoughts and experiences regarding vehicles and let us not pollute it. There are so many places to do advertisements, and autolanka.com is one those, and we can use those, and not thos forum.

Ok no worries.AFAIK Personal messeges are not moderated and its totally your responsibility what you do with PMs.Theres no need to generalise and say "this forum is dominated by business people",that is very misleading.

And I'd be very careful doing business with people who have to resort to sending PMs on forums in order to find work or sell stuff.
