Kia Sportage - Diesel Conversion

Question

Posted

Hi Guys,

I am owning a KIA sportage 96 model petrol Jeep. I have an idea to convert it to diesel and I need to clarify few things.

Heard that Mazda R2 engine is perfectly mach with the mounts and the existing 4X4 gear box.

or do i have to replace the gear box & engine both?

If i found a KIA Sportage diesel engine, can it be fixed to the existing 4X4 gear box without any hassle?

Spoke to RMV & they said that i will have to use the same number with the D sign on the plate.

Please help me to claryfy this with your valuble ideas & experiance.

Thanks

kia diesal sportage has mazda RF/R2 engines

they are quite good

bt i ve seem in pakwheel forum(pakistan forum like auto lanka) tat they have to put toyota 3c engines(im hav no idea abt this engine type)

my point is tat u can consider toyota engines also.

jst do some research in pakwheel forum

but having said tat even mazda R2/RF engine is quite good and economical

they are used in mazda bongo vans, some vannettes, old versions of suzuki escudo.

so good luck in hunting for engines

I have decided to move forward with a R2 engine. R2 is the latest version of RF right?

By the way, do you have any idea about the gear box? Can I keep the existing gear box or do I have to change that as well? I ve checked with some mechanic guy who works in Car Plan and he said that the existing gear box bell housing perfectly suites with R2, is that correct?

Regards.
