Alloy Cleaner

Hey guys, where can I buy a good alloy wheel cleaner? I bought one from Arpico, Eagle A2Z or something, and while it washes away the dust and all, it doesn't seem to affect the more baked on brake dust.

When painting alloys, I assume they sand the surface beforehand, will that erase off the brake dust? Or will they just paint on top of the dust?

They should remove the brake dust to do a proper paint job.

If you use the All Wheel Cleaner fluid be careful not to spray it on the body and the plastic lug nut covers of the wheels. The solution is too strong for them.

I use 3M wheel and tyre cleaner.Works great.I have spray bottle about 2 years old and it says 990Rs on the price tag.So now it should be around 1200-1300 I guess.

Cool, where can I get them from?

wait so your trying to paint your wheels? if so why bother with the removing the brake dust using cleaners? just sand it all off.

Yeah, just was wondering if our SL baases would do the job properly.

I was thinking, just to be on the safe side, to try and clean the brake dust off meself and then hand them over for painting.

Thanks machan.

Will that damage the alloys?

Well I've used it on the alloys in my dads old van withhout any probs. Helped take out some really bad areas of brake dust.

BTW the one i'm talking about it the yellow stuff you can buy in little unmarked cans. I think they just call it compound and not rubbing compound. Should be pretty cheap at any auto paint shop in slave island.
