Good question.. the estates, police and some govt people got them mainly... and I think they continue to use them... with variable road worthy conditions, if U know what I mean.. Guess the reason may be that above parties continue to find the Trooper useful or have written them off after hard use... Remember my father using both the Pajero & the Trooper for brief periods in the late 80's/ early 90's, when they were still in a "Brand new condition".. Our family belived the Pajero was the more comfortable one for a long journey... but for some reason I liked the rugged feel of the Trooper...

I think U mean 1.64Mn, isn't it? unless U plan to make the Guiness world records or something..
-
How about the availability mechanics? to my knowledge, the agent leaves a lot to be desired..
-
As one member pointed out, we'll need more info on your requirements mate... 'cos in my humble opinion, people who seek only fuel efficiency never go for SUVs.....
-
4.5mil for a Swift???????????????? Machang, buy a second hand X-trail, save a million, use it for fuel & enjoy the ride...! But out of jokes, this deadlock doesn't make any sense to me.... if the Govt, doesn't want more cars on the roads, they should invest in actual development of the public transport system.... oh well... we are tired of that topic, aren't we..
-
maybe it's changing times.... perhaps a strategic initiative from our far thinking law makers to ensure a level playing field for all....

Wouldn't most vehicles "easly do 1kml", mate?

Is there such a major shortage of spares for Civics? we are talking about EK / ES range here... and haven't really come across major complaints from people I know.. It may have been the situ sometime back, and that mind set seems to be still there with us.. but the civics have defntly picked up in SL... and with that the spares... Personally, the driving pleasure of a well maintained EK3 is better for me than the Corolla 110.. I agree that you might sell a 110 faster.... but believe that, for a given price in that range, you can always find a newer EK3 or an FB 15... I'm a strong believer that, a newer car from any of these three manufacturers is likely to give less trouble, provided the previous owners have carefully looked after them... In terms of fuel efficiency, don't see a massive difference..

Montero sport was within 16K bracket a couple of years back when they offered the permit. can't comment about the backseat as I've only been in the front However, the CIF figure was offered minus some options, Understandably, and was one reason we didn't go for it.. better check with Agents.. in terms of Comfort, it feels a bit rougher than the Montero... but then that's why it's called "sport"!! Why not consider the terios as well, if you have the petrol option available?... the Honda CRV may be off limits, I think.. though from the list given, Santafe seems to have a better look of 'prestige' about it..

Maybe they are proactively preparing for the stream of cars that'll come on all the highways that'll be built around the country in the next few months....
-
How about the Montero sport? believe this is within the limit

well said Guys.. Since the dude believe that we are not in the same "class" as him, it'll be a crime not to let him leave the club, eh? wonder whether the Mods will agree...

Oops.. apologies... but the question holds... aren't there two port or one port wireless routers around? smallest i've come across are four port... and that's too much for home use..
-
Aren't there two port wireless routers around, which can be cheaper? from what I gather, Hola actually needs only one port to physically connect the desktop, and wireless for note book...

Had the same problem and got it sorted from a dude in Kohuwala.. go through the small lane adjoining Laugfs Supermarket (Not the filling station), take a couple of turns & U'll see this run down, small garage... Service is not impressive (Common prob in SL!), but if you can tolerate, can get the problem sorted.. the mechanic was quite ok and knew his job.. Apparantly, some of the better known garages in the area get the help from this place to work on this sort of repairs.. and that's how I got to know...
-
Better watch out mate... there are some dirty cops in that particular area.... ...unless U pass the speed gun before they get time to lift it....
-
How about the diesel version of Montero sport (not the IO)? shouldn't it be better? there seem to be a few from the lateset version on the road, including some "permit" ones...
-
this branch of the topic certainly enlightened me on the difference between the D22 & X-trails...
-
I'd Go for a diesel Bluebird (SU14).. couple of known parties got down 'Eprise' version, during last govt permit..(and they are definetely not selling mate.. ) ... have driven both the Bluebird & Cefiro '33'... no major difference in comfort & handling (Personal opinion) from what I've gathered, Bluebird does around 10 in city and 14 outstation.... which is nearly double the efficiency of the Cefiros... plus, maintanance cost seems lower in the U14 as well... Believe the selling price of better maintained U14s will vary between 1.6 - 1.8 Mn..
-
As you can gather from forum comments, applying this to all cars in 99-00' era is baseless. have personally used three cars from this period over time and never had 'technical' issues except usual running repairs & maintanance.. try to find one which is reasonably well looked after.... there are quite a few threads in this forum itself which give handy tips on buying a car... Good luck!!
-
why not stick to the hiring option, if U R not going to stick around for long? you can save that few million bucks, and I doubt you'll end up profitable in the whole thing under present circumstances, if the ride has to be disposed of in a hurry...
-
Guys now I'm confused.... does Dialog actually have hidden charges or is it a software issue, as Peri mentions? surely you don't need to wait until nearly 25% of the country's population get on board to correct such a thing?????? On the other hand.... if Indians mess up billing software, can that be applicable to Airtel bills as well, I wonder....guess we are back square one....

Machan, sorry for my ignorance, but doesn't the transition to O/D come into play only of the vehicle speed exceeds a certain speed? in my car, the final gearshift takes place around 70km/h... (as indicated by the feel and also reduction in RPM) In heavy Colombo traffic, such speeds are usually not reached, hence, the gears will simply change between the first few only.. If we are talking hill country driving, of course then switching off O/D may make sense... Experts, pls correct me if I'm wrong...

You wouldn't happen to drive around in a "Power of Dreams", eh? Cos' I was told the same story at that place... I thanked the fellow & ignored the advice...
-
Agreed. A brand new car like Alto will always be a good option. you can safely assume there'll be relatively less issues than a used car. Downside is that, you'll be compromising comfort, safety & driving pleasure, compared to a higher grade sedan, in order to get the extra couple of kms in fuel. P.S: A word of advice though: if you want to learn about cars, get a used one - No pain, no gain
