  1. As I told you many a times Darwin would be spitting on his grave if it weren't ..! Great run.. you just made AL member Charith the most confused Evo owner!
  2. Yes for the 5th time this year!! that car multiplies!
  3. Some more pictures:
  4. On the 12th of July @ castlecomb track, UK, a staggering 273 Mistubishi Evos hit the track to attempt a new world record and they achieved it!!!.. some pictures below courtesy of Mitsubishi Lancer Register. Never seen so many evos in one place or in one picture for that matter.. evos are ugly anyways and with this many in one place i could puke!.. For the video follow link below: Pictures!:
  5. Our AL member, Gunat has this new cool toy, which seems to give stats closer to VBOX which is used by motor journalists to review new cars. It calculates Wheel Horsepower (-24% of flywheel HP). Also gives you 0-60mph, 1/4mile, g forces etc. He may already have stats for 0-100kmH for some common cars on Sri lankan roads. Will post my stats no sooner I convince him to loan it to me.
  6. Wish You a Happy Birthday Bro!..
  7. Similar thing happend in our area on galle road yesterday. They were using a Municipality "ambulance" with a drunk driver to clear the road and the usual motorbike thugs scolding everyone on the road in filth to get out of the way for bicycle race. I was just putting my car on to the road from a gas station and the motorbike buggers scolded me in filth for trying to get on to the road. I was so pissed off I did not listen to them and got on to the road, smoked the motorbike and the ambulance too and watched them all dissappear in my rear view mirror! Felt good.
  8. Too much for a SWB. Try to negotiate and you should be able to get it for a song. I owned a Patrol Y60 Long wheel base for 2 years. Pros: === - Nobody would mess with you on the road. No matter how much traffic there is you can close your eyes and just drive and no one will get in your way. - You can look right in the eye and grin the bus driver that cut you off when were minding your business in your small jap car! - Absolutely awesome in offroad terrain. You can hardly get it stuck anywhere (even without a difflock). But if you do you need another patrol to pull it out. - Highly reliable 4.2L Diesel 6 pot. Can do 500,000km without an overhaul (bullet proof) - Mod potential. Lot of aftermarket offroad bits available like winches, bumpers, diff locks, lift kits, suspension, tires etc. - Can pump full tank of diesel and run for many years!.. 95 litre fuel tank! Cons: ==== - Lack of parts in Sri Lanka apart from oil filters, air filters etc (Agents suck when it comes to getting parts for Y60. If you are like many offroaders who put Toyota parts in Nissans no issues!!, but if you are particular about replacement parts like me, will have a hard time finding them (interior parts, window frames etc) - Body parts shops won't sell individual parts. Due to body permits they want ppl to buy the whole deal - Slow and Heavy. Weighs approx 2.5 tons. But once you get some momentum on a long trip it moves like the bullet train. Good luck stopping it though! However, SWB will be quicker as lighter. - Hard to park in modern underground car parks, high roof LWB wont fit in small areas. - You have to get a bus license to drive one legally as most Y60s are 60,61-. Lucky if you find a 64-,65- - Hard to sell. Only ppl who want a Patrol will buy a patrol. After all I don't understand why one should sell a patrol. I am still kicking myself for selling it. I totally regret parting with it. It is the perfect vehicle for sri lanka.
  9. I am doing some research, apparently 'Kasippu' will pass the smog test, lot of enterprising citizens in our area specializing in this particular type of bio fuel. Unleaded and 100+ Octane.
  10. Gunat we will now have to convert your STi to LP Gas! will pass emission test and also put your spare BBQ gas cylinder to good use!
  11. Deja vu hanging on to rollcage of an Evo 8 running 2 bar around pannala while mivec.turbo grin through the rear window right at you thinking "eat this". Arms were sore for 3 days with the imprint of the rollcage..had to use legs to stop from goin through the windscreen upon braking.. any free offers.. no thank you.
  12. Wow! Congratulations DD.. Looks awesome.. Let's go test it now! Stock machine ready for comparison as always!..
  13. Agreed! He absolutely has no sentimental value (bast**rd)! looks like he got the SSS package with the "BIG WING"eh? wonder what that compensates for! What would he be without the salsero talent and the big wing! Anyway he would still be proud to be the first sri lankan to get his hands on the 4B11. Did you get a drive as yet? Must have a few more miles left on the clock before the defloration?
  14. Don't want to sound boring but I really think you should Keep the rims as is. Of course M5 Rims would look very cool, but you will compromise on ride comfort with bigger rims and low profile tires, which is, taking a way the most important attribute of the 5-series. We live in Sri lanka after all and you know how the roads are. Again I am a purist when it comes to keeping the car stock so my opinion will probably not matter to you.. and also remember "Friends Never let Friends Drive stock!" . You have a lovey ride which is one of my dream cars as well, just keep it as it is.
  15. Very cool machine! Congrats Dasa..
  16. Are you sure the car is de-limited and the KPH/MPH conversion was done correctly? As far as I know there are two ways to adjust the speedo signal. As it comes from the gearbox; so you get the adjustment to both speedo clock and ECU input (using a cheap converter box). Another is to just adjust the ECU input so that you get the speed delimited but the clocks still read in kph. In Evo 4-6 splice into gearbox sensor wires to remove limiter and convert into mph or splice in behind speedo clocks to just convert into mph without taking limiter off. Seems you are in UK (we don't do SatNav in Sri Lanka! We use Threewheeler park GPS )? There are plenty of Evo specialists in UK that can sort this out for you.

"they are very easy to live with- if one ignores the fuel consumption 'issue'" - looks like your honeymoon with the new acquisition is going great!
  19. It was 'Salsa MR' driving the car!!
  20. Hold your horses until Mitsu sort out the issue with SST box! If you watched the movie carefully (like Mivec.Turbo very correctly observed and pointed out ) the IX took the advantage when SST X started short shifting after a while, which in fact is the exact problem with SST Mitsu is still trying to rectify. When the SST oil heats up, the computers go in to a short shift mode to save the gearbox (changes gears in lower rpms making the car slow). This is something even the motor journalists experienced while testing the X initially. Once they sort out this issue I am sure X will leave the pack standing or else as they say Darwin will be spitting on his grave.
  21. Lancia Delta Integrale, because of below
  22. Check this out.. a dude from U.S. Converting a Mirage to a Evo III. All the steps are documented and photos taken. I don't think I would ever have the patience to carry out a project like this. How to do a EVO III Conversion
