Evo Iv Help Needed

Hello fellow Petrol-heads,

I need a help for my speedometer conversation on Evo IV. The original speedo meter KM/H been converted to MPH and derestricted when I purchased the car from Japan. Now speedo meter working fine but it can not read more than 112 MPH (roughly it is 180 KMH) , as over 112 MPH speedo gauge going to zero and stays there. Car can be driven over 150 MPH easily (well not legally on motorway and have checked the speed on Satnav which gives the speed) but it is hectic that the speedo meter is not fully functioning. I know there are products you can buy for de-restriction and speedo conversion as but what is the problem with this speedo meter malfunction. Checked the speed from -0 - 110 MPH against the satnav and it is correct. Help needed……

Thanks

Are you sure the car is de-limited and the KPH/MPH conversion was done correctly? As far as I know there are two ways to adjust the speedo signal. As it comes from the gearbox; so you get the adjustment to both speedo clock and ECU input (using a cheap converter box). Another is to just adjust the ECU input so that you get the speed delimited but the clocks still read in kph. In Evo 4-6 splice into gearbox sensor wires to remove limiter and convert into mph or splice in behind speedo clocks to just convert into mph without taking limiter off. Seems you are in UK (we don't do SatNav in Sri Lanka! We use Threewheeler park GPS B) )? There are plenty of Evo specialists in UK that can sort this out for you.

Well the speed reading upto 110 MPH is correct, but i am not sure how they have done it, i think have to look and see. Many thanks for the information.
