1.5L Turbo is 4cyl, 1.0L turbo is 3cyl. If the car is imported from UK it may be manufactured there. Agents will be getting down 1.5L turbo soon, will be from Thailand though. Even on the so called cars manufactured in Japan they are only assembled there with most of the parts outsourced from Thailand, China etc.

fd3 Best place to replace Hybrid battery of a Civic FD3 other than agents?
kush replied to Goro's topic in Feedback & Suggestions
Generally what they do is cannibalize another used battery and use the good cells to replace the bad cells. This will ensure that all cells will be more or less same conditions.- 14 replies

Issue with the Leaf was the price even with 5% tax importing a brand new would have cost over Rs. 4.0 Mn. where as the recondition was around Rs. 2.4-2.8 Mn. They wouldn't have sold that many to make any economic sense. High initial depreciation in Japan and UK with tax re-baits for EV made sense to import slightly used to SL rather than brand new. Nissan would have also been reluctant to offer due to the car not adopted to our climatic conditions. This is evident in high deterioration of battery in Leaf in SL.

Help in deciding between a Lancer GLX CS1 (2008) vs Civic ES5 (2004)
kush replied to Aslam86's question in Car Buying Information
I had a 2002 CS1 manual and used to get similar kmpl of course it was pre highway days. Most of the CS1 were rented or on hire purchase for middle management / forces and wouldn't have been looked after well where as ES5 would usually be higher management or personally used. You may even find all the service records so that you can verify mileage Generally Civic owners look after their cars This is the car i could not afford when i purchased the CS1 Given the fact both cars will be over 10 yrs ES5 will be a better option in my view- 3 replies

Go for a CRV if you can find anyone selling, bullet proof build quality and reliability, more comfortable. -
Suggestions for an upgrade from crossover to SUV
kush replied to zeristo's question in Car Buying Information
Duty value will be based on custom validation which is more or less based on the prices on the official web sites less any local duty. Price you purchase the car in Japan will not matter No excesses allowed in the new permits -

kush replied to zeristo's question in Car Buying Information
New permits do not specify cc capacity or fuel/ type it is US$ 30k or US$ 40k CIF and duty concessions being 65% and 60% of total duty payable. You can bring down the hybrid provided CIF as per custom valuation is less than US$ 40k -
I have seen couple of ads in Sunday paper (H** A*) may be you could contact them, considering you are going to spend decent sum of money think about after sales service and maintenance etc.

GTi is 2.0 L will be expensive due to tax, most probably cost over Rs. 10 Mn. GTE is 1.4 L hybrid has similar power will be significantly cheaper due to small engine and being a hybrid (low tax), however driving feel may be different to the GTi though
-
reading could be liters for 100 km in which case it works out to 8.33 kmpl
-
At high revs these hybrids are not as sooth as the std engines, it makes a terrible rattling noise and eventually you pull the peddle back out of mechanical sympathy or for fear for the engine. I don't think these engines are intended to rev.

What is the point of sport mode and peddle shift ???

Ex 1.5 -109 bhp 141 1.6 (2007-10) - 109 bhp FD 2007 - 123 bhp
-
Look at Corolla 141 plenty of them around with low mileages if you look hard, more comfortable than EX, handling 95% of Ex, same economy, engine more willing at high speeds.

You should be able to get the new CRV for Rs. 9.0 Mn. + permit price they are offered for USD 25k permit which is transferable. Warning note: It will be 1.5L turbo which is not a tested engine in SL -
Check this thread Have done over 2000km economy in Colombo moderate to heavy traffic around 10 kmpl

If you care to wait they sometimes give fat discounts / special offers I bought my Flip and E50BT headphones from them for less than Amazon US prices
-
for a correct LPG conversion you need to replace the valve seals to combat the higher ignition temperatures which was never done in SL. My take is most probably there could be burned valve seats after sometime. You could look for tel tale signs of burning oil, low compression or even a proper emission test.
-
If you look after the engine even the turbos will last for ever (petrol). In SL most of the time other areas given in before the engine it is very rarely you end up rebuilding engines.
