  1. Changing the ATF fluid will not solve your problem as long as the fluid level is where it should be. Your issue is either the torque converter or the pump. Basically a pressure issue which can be checked with a gauge. One slight possibility also is a clogged filter.

  3. Put the battery back on the remote and then get in the car and turn the key to on position but don't crank the car [try to start it], then press the #1 button again and try to start the car. If no luck, try #2 and repeat and so on. If not you'll have to have someone take a closer look. Seems that your alarm is activated and this is causing the engine to not run. If you like to get rid of it, most likely the control unit is located under the dash panel. Generally the unit is enclosed in a see though plastic housing. You can remove it there to disable the whole thing. GL.
  4. You can easily install a 17" or even an 18" wheel and tire package on that car without any issues. Just make sure the tire circumference is as close to the stock size as possible. Use this to help you decide on the size. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
  5. Slipping clutch.
  6. If your problem started after changing the clutch, then you should re-verify the installation. I have never heard of this issue before, nor can I think of a reasonable situation that can cause fuel consumption issues after a new clutch install. The only remote possibility is that your clutch is slipping [check the pressure plate bolt torque]. If this is the case, you'll kill that clutch in no time. While you're there check the throwout bearing as well [hope you used a new one]. The "zzzz" sound could come from it. I don't know your mechanical skills so don't feel insulted, but make sure that your didn't reversed the clutch dick.

If you can get a hold of this stuff, it'll work great and it'll also deaden the sound as well. http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=367
  8. Would've been no issue what so ever man. It's not as bad as you seems to think. Anyway, back to regularly scheduled programming. This stuff's not nearly as entertaining.
  9. Very entertaining but a quick correction, The brake issue was as the car goes over a rough road and the brakes are applied, if one wheel unloads [i.e. go over a bump and as the traction is reduced] the ABS system is actuated. The problem was that the other 3 wheels still have traction but by actuating ABS early, it increase the distance unless you push the brake pedal all the way down. The fix was to actually delay the ABS engagement point so the system is not so sensitive. This is first hand experience and have duplicated it many many times before and tested the fix after.
  10. Think of it as D = drive, S = 2, and B = 1
  11. :D :D Nice.
  12. If you can crank the engine under its own power, then it's not a battery issue. I assume your car has a carburetor?? If it's a carburetor model, check and make sure when you press the accelerator, while the engine is not running, that you see a small amount of fuel being introduced by looking through the carb. If not, you'll need to track the problem either in the carb or the fuel line/pump somewhere.
  13. Your friend is correct. There is a procedure in dealing with Hybrids to keep the emergency responders from being electrocuted. Even giving a jump start has a procedure so they don't end up frying the non Hybrid vehicle. Sadly, I think you guys will soon hear about someone who got hurt with one of these. For you hybrid owners, do not touch any of the orange wires without proper protection. There's enough amperage in there to hurt you seriously. My advice is to read the owner's manual carefully and be very familiar with your vehicle.
  14. LOL Or at the very lease get the cherry popped Rubbing it with soap when he wash it don't count.
  15. Maybe some of us don't give a rats ass about you or your PRIFILE!
  16. For someone who's been talking all that trash, you came back with this weak ass response?
  17. So your brilliant idea is to call them cheapskates? Classy. Still haven't heard what you're driving with your glass of champagne, skippy.
  18. Peri, Here is where I get my pantie in a wad. When a guy come and ask a simple innocent question about his Prius the first post you see is an insult to the guy when his question is absolutely legitimate. Then come all the sheep following the leader bashing the poor guy for merely asking a question about his car. If you don't like the Prius that is fine and you simply don't have to click on the link and move on. Instead, everyone start swinging form each others nut sacks and bash on some poor guy for choosing to buy a Prius. Doesn't this bother anyone else? I find it is in very poor taste to judge an individual who decided to take advantage of an offering from the government, which most of you would do given the right circumstance, and he is looked down up-on. He/she's been called all kind of names and insulted. To further the issue, then we post BS as an answer to his/her question. Then come the horde taking turn insulting or talking carp about the owner. I think it shows the character of some people and their upbringing when they feel good about talking bad to someone who's not as 'fortunate' as they are. As an example, take this entire thread in context and see what I mean. I don't know man but it take a hell of a lot for me to 'beat up' on someone who's 'weaker' than I am and I most definitely find no amusement or satisfaction in doing so.
  19. Dude, that is the dumbest comment I've read in a while here and on Prius subjects there are some really stupid comments being made. That is saying something. Out of curiosity, what do you drive, baller?
  20. The bearing is in the hub and comes as an assembly. The cost of the bearing + the hub is ~$150.00 us.
  21. GPR V2 but stock was performing well also.
  22. Godzilla on steroids! My compliments to your dad for the brilliant gift idea and congrats to you for being on the receiving end.
