  1. Yeah machang, but once you register the jeep at a 'land vehicle' will you have to change the number plate also? (like a double cab is registered 'p' series and a single cab is registered 'L' series - for the 'L' series vehicles you need a light lorry license if I'm not mistaken ) If you have to change the number plate, do you have to have a license to drive a 'land vehicle' as well? I'm just asking cause I dont know is all. But that aside, you may have a problem registering the jeep in a different class, just as a way of convenience.
  2. Not neccesarily mate........I had a 323 1600 which used to give me approx 9 - 9.5 in the city & approx 14.5 outside All depends on the maintenance, driving habits etc. If youre patient you can get a good un abused specimen in that price range. Of course buying a good specimen of any make is a bit tough these days.
  3. Looks like it needs a bit of work ne? lotta legwork needed to find the headlight surrounds, grille, buffer etc me thinks unless they just havent been fitted that is. hows the engine? Interior?
  4. By land vehicle do you mean to be registered as a truck? If so, wont you have to change your driving license as well? I assume you have the ususal D, D1 driving facility on your lcense With the current reg class you can drive the jeep, but will you not have to then resit the exam, get a new DL erc if you change the class of vehicle. Whats the difference that you will have to pay per year anyway?
  5. Many Happy Returns of the day Dilesh.........All the very best for a great year ahead.
  6. sorry mistaken post : )
  7. Agree on the good service........I fixed the speakers myself but needed some wiring done. good neat job too. Have had a baaaaad experience with advance, so wont sight the place again. They took in a stereo for repairs, and after a million calls to get it back, they fixed something totally different. ( My in laws car an they didnt want to make a major fuss...I would have given a choice )
  8. Ahhhhh yes yes ...well in that case this is good advice them Prad had me worried for a mo there
  9. Thankfully nothing happened mate...but the suspension really got a beating. Nope not much progress yet he he...oh and also the road makes for a very good obstacle course when driving at twilight.....in the rain
  10. LOL...yeah. My poor car though
  11. By the looks of it the road looks pretty decent.............The trinco road however leaves much to be desired. The first 30km or so from Habarana is fully carpeted, but then the road works havent gone beyond that.....well they are doing it, but not really sure when its gonna finish. The strech of 'old' paving is coming of here n there which means its quite a bumpy and hence slow ride to trinco.
  12. OMG??????
  13. Machang by 8 - 10 you mean city running? If thats the case isn't that pretty good? especially for a car of that size and vintage? I take it that the engine is a 1.6?
  14. Have't had such a good laugh in a long while encore encore
  15. Many Congrats on the job Dillon..............All the very best. So do you get ur choice of company car then? Nice pics BTW. : )
  16. Hmmm strange....didn't notice any unusual traffic this morning. Went to drop my daughter in school at abt 7:20 and it was ok anyway...........possibly after that then......
  17. Hmmmm you may be right there........sorry bout that.
  18. City limits ( Boundaries unknown of course ) is 52 and other areas are 72...both in KMPH However, the cops cant still go on this basis as per a 'friendly' chat I had with a cop hiding behind a bush...... No really I stopped and asked him on the way from Habarana....... so what they do is drag you in for reckless driving. Be aware though of areas where proper signs are posted........The Ambepussa Kerunegala Dambulla roads are decently posted...and actually the 70 limit posted is not bad in some areas, given the road conditions, bends, maniacal bus drivers etc. I've found that there are certain places along any route that you just have to slow down to 50 or less even if the posting is 70 ( Example - Kurunegala road just after town is posted at 70, but you generally cant go beyond 50 - 60 on that strech unless its very early in the morning.) On the other hand,If youre stupid enough to ignore dangerous situations, posted speed limits and warnings by other drivers....then IMHO you need to be hauled off to court.

    Hero Comes Home

Somehow I dont really fancy this....It looks a bit like a bigger / beefed up scion. The previous models defa outweigh this in the looks department. But then this is just me : )
  20. A very Happy B'day machang..........Hope you have a super year ahed.
  21. I agree. The Charade's a good car machang....of course it all depends on how well it's looked after an all like MrCat says I had G200 about 3 years back.....was an awesome little bullet he he.......It even got me to Yala in 4 n half hours flat No major trouble other than for the gasket goin bust as soon as I bought it. The previous owner hadn't looked ater it as well as I thought he had Sadly the only issue with it was re-sale. People kept comparing it to a toyota starlet.....personally the Charade felt more solid to drive around than the starlet (EP82). They did share some of the parts though. Anyway all the best with your buy Sanjaya....you should post some pics soon
  22. Yup YRC he he he.....What I'd love to have is a Mazda hatch infact...didn't come across one which was in good nik tho.... so now me have a Ford Laser sedan...incidently the one you saw last wednesday on union place So still can be part of the MFOC Hatches are awesome, infact I'd always had a hatch till the kids came along. Space in that sense would be the only disadvantage.......unless of course its something like the Mazda hatch, which is closer to a SW.
  23. Yup Mr. JDB would be the best man to comment...........BTW, its nice to know there a namesake on the forums Oh and welcome to AL.
