  1. Sounds good but Get it checked, don't risk it
  2. This is the oil change, with timing belt change where all the oil seals and pulleys are changed, recommended to do around 80-100,000km Agents go at this rather flamboyantly They've done a liqui moly purge too I did this few weeks ago, Coolant change as well and egr clean/ tuneup, Kinda routine maintenance at this mileage, for any vehicle I've never had this brake pad issue, we also have a triton with the same brakes My colleagues have 3 and no one mentioned this, probably the guy had a warp and was too stingy to change the rotors with are costly.
  3. Montero sport I have one for a while now, not that cheap in terms of fuel but maintenance is very decent and can run high mileage easy. Comfort is not a big plus point though. Off road it can easily do what a land cruiser / defender does,
  4. With half the torque? and a cvt? test driving is better than wikipedia
  5. An experienced lathe fella can check the tolerances and resurface the rotors, if it has been done previously or if the cut is too deep, then let them go. Besides they are kinda cheap after market too, agents may quote and enormous sum but plenty available after market in good brands ex brembo Tokiko etc Rs 7000 upwards a corner, expect double with the agent Also if I recall the regen system takes most of the deceleration braking force, if so why did yours wear out so fast, just get that checked, i;ve heard of hybrids running like 60000km for a set of pads and leafs go like 80000km as the regen does the work.
  6. check if the obd port has a data feed for your requirement before ordering these, also if the battery is small it may drain it even during day to day use, if you keep the starter on without engine running. you can also get a Defi replica or Autogauge unit with a Joint pipe and tap into a cooling line, or else can also tap into a nut in the block given it touches or is near a coolant channel to get an idea. Mechanical copper wire ones are also good and very reliable.
  7. The Montero is going to be costly to run, but will probably hold value, I doubt the 1.5l CRV will be faster though, even with a 2.8 Montero let alone the 3.2 4m41, CRVs are dropping as usual the CRV is going to be more comfortable given that it doesn't have the 4wd gear and off road spec suspension, again the rear seats on the CRV are nothing to brag about. Above all you will not find a montero in that budget, esp in auto transmission. Even if it comes close mileage will be over 100k so you have a certain array of maintenance to do.
  8. 10w-30 is way too thick for the 660cc engine and nowhere recommended by the manufacturer, most likely used a cheap oil too as the below are mostly synthetic its 0w-16 / 0w-20 or 5w-30 according to climate and if Turbo its always 5w-30, I'd go change the oil right now with flush and if he has run the engine for high miles, expect premature wear due to delayed oil flow, esp during start stop Thicker oil tends to clog up the oil channels and also most noobs put the cheap 10w-30 oil (mineral) and run 10,000km the normal wagon R service interval, check the wagon R fb page, many horror stories of lumps of oil in the cams by doing this and your fuel economy must be really bad. also expect more stupid / cheap changes and parts by the previous owner and get them rectified, and don't buy cars from people like this
  9. Just noticed Sri Lankans are obsessed with 3rd / fender mirrors on suvs and Vans, and even cars so much they mention it as an option in the advert lol

Further research some mirrors for models cost 26000lkr after market and there is a big local demand it seems!

Actually drove a prado with an aftermarket mirror and realized that it does help in parking and all if you are not short sighted

      Is the fender itself different,

I bit the bullet and got one fitted, and loving it!

@tiv no there's no difference. but one need to worry on how to fix mounting brackets etc onto non mirrored export model Fender (Drilling etc, and stamping threaded bolts on to it.). so less work buying the 2 together. i know, it's expensive in that way.

Yea the mirror might come to 18-24000

And a new panel is always better

  10. I've never followed these much but I guess these things were not that popular since new around 4.2 unreg right? , and the UK imports also had a lot of agony in the later years remember there was a time Ford Escorts and Datsun 510s went near 2mil, and how all those classics have bottomed out now.
  11. AFAIK the current trend in drop of second hand market is due to vehicles not moving in the second hand arena as well as from car sales, started with the depreciation of the rupee and political unrest and now people are holding up hoping prices will go down after the budget, and partly due to permits issued and trapped. this is what the big car sale guys say, imports have also gone down and things will again pick up and prices will increase by April as usual. Also the newly imported euros have sorta shocked the newbie clientele apparently in comparison to maintenance costs, thus you see people getting rid of them after like 30000km bringing them down Hybrids have lost value due to the enormous list of problems each make and model is having after their stay in lanka, thereby they are compensated for the newer lower displacement engines with near equal fuel figures, to hell with performance / power Newer Diesel / petrol suvs have come down as I guess they are expensive to run and the clientele are not moving money at the moment. Older SUVs are picking up value due to the current off roader wannabe V*P craze Only thing holding value are Suzuki Keis as usual things will be back to normal after the budget.
  12. Thank you
  13. Yea its the Mitsubishi Motors Genuine Super long life coolant, and it's time based, I was working on the interval 100000km or 5 years so since 5 years have lapsed. I've never tried the multimeter thing, must try after a YouTube lesson lol
  14. Decided to use this short yet old thread for a small query I'm pending a coolant change for a vehicle which I use and wondering whether to go with the OEM Mitsubishi coolant or to go with another brand Options Caltex Havoline Premix Valvoline Liquimoly ( bit pricey for coolant ) Wilita Wurth (will avoid as I blew a rad once) 3m The colour is green, for a diesel 4d56 di-d montero sport. I would like the teensy DIY premise but also will fair with agent receipts as nowadays it ain't that costly and maintenance records are a paranoia. OEM Mitsubishi coolant is not nowhere to be found other than agent barrels
  15. There is a learning point here, we can see that how low the Panda has stooped for it to be compared with a Maruti 800, especially given the massive campaign bought over by the agent and the figures they pulled, and in comparison to the humble 800 which is actually a reliable little thing. Idk where you thought to go buy asking about performance though
  16. Massive iceberg with the batteries in the phev, so do your research

Does it stop at payment step? I also tried without any luck. Central province might have some difficulties these days

  18. Genuine Philips or osram leds will run near 300usd more for shipping and customs, I doubt it will not be that feasible blowing 40 grand for blue light when there are other cheaper options with the same lifespan
  19. Anything after 6000k is horrid in fog and gloomy weather with rains Always leave atleast a fog light set with standard halogen for emergencies, I've had to pull over and swap in my h11 globes once after going all led
  20. I saw a new Jimny in Sri Lanka!

Thought it looks macho it is awfully small, kinda let down for me as it Doesn't impress as much in person, and looks puny in traffic

The owner was an ass when I went to ask about it, said it cost 6 mil

I've not heard of a Jimmy

Xbee Is an enlarged hustler with a swift platform which doesn't seem to be picking up a market here

  21. Haha true to that, buy a few decade old diesel suv and you are set double your figure gradually
  22. Did you try cleaning inside the projector globes, this must be done carefully or given to a professional, apparently there is a smog like buildup inside on the long term

I do a lot of diy work so covered some bits up incase I spill or scrape the paint

  24. Well the flexible hood ornament in mitsubishis cost LKR 34500/-

And monkeys decided to break it in two.

  25. Views opinion- well put together little car 660cc engine- enough for its size even in hill country Fuel economy 16- 20 nothing above 20. Not as economical as a Suzuki as no hybrid system Also way fewer problems than Suzuki. I guess similar to a viva elite Maintenance is cheap but 0w-20 synthetic oil is costly.
