Once I was stopped for not turning on Lightsat around 5:30pm, I was well lit, or just routine license checks,

one guy even asked for the emissions test and then his co officer said "machan meka battery scene ekak" dum test oney naha,

I was stopped in 2 instances just to inquire about the car, but they were polite enough to mention that as soon as I stopped and asked if I could spare some time.

I don't think it gets dark enough to turn on headlights at 5.30pm, so they are mainly being inquisitive....

Since there are more than a handful of Leafs on our roads these days, its strange that you got stopped thrice within such a short time span...

  2. I've seen a fella using a 2012 Monterosport, the seat polythene looks like a cobweb now, he's taped up the holes as well

    Nissan Leaf

A leaf not pulling hills is utter bull, it pulls very well on good tarmac. on poor roads however it tends to break traction (explained above) Just walk into a retailer and ask a test drive, don't take my word for it The issue is how long it can pull, climbing Kadugannawa takes about 20% of the battery (w A/C, 4 passengers, decent cargo, headlamps on). Also it can get to Nuwara Eliya from Kandy ( continuous climb) with about 18% battery left to spare w above conditions that is. Anyways with the new budget in play, the leaf commotion is going to be rather futile
  5. Bought this today off Ar***o, totally useless, poorly designed and no power at all, Make cleaning a hatchback like a gymnastic workout. A 20 year old National Vac works way better Keep away folks, complete waste of 4700 bucks http://www.blackanddecker.com/products/power-tools/automotive/car-care/12v-dustbusterreg-auto-vac/av1500

    H4 Hid Or Led

    That does look quite good!
  8. I can't advice you on the area and cost as I am not from your locality, but I do strongly recommend you get it done via a professional / well experienced mechanic / garage and use only the Genuine belt for replacement, had a very bad experience on a 2C (Noah) back in 2001 where the car sale swapped a non oem belt which snapped during a climb, that engine was never the same thereafter, dumped it after one year for a new one.
  9. You could go all rival as well though...

    Nissan Leaf

Since no one addressed this, First of all, pre 2012 Leafs had the chassis code ZEO, less efficient, less range, first model to hit the roads post 2012 / 2013 onwards they have the chassis code AZEO, longer range, bigger boot,+ many minute revisions There are 2 streams for the above; JDM and UK versions Under JDM, we have S grade X grade G grade + Aero kit as per spec (not arrow) Go to the bottom of the following for an english tab on JDM leaf equipment / trims http://sparkev.lk/models/nissan-leaf/ Under UK leafs, we have Visia, Visia + Acenta, Acenta + Tekna as for options, refer this http://www.nissan.co.uk/dam/services/gb/brochure/Nissan_Leaf.pdf Most UK leafs have the 80kW motor opposed to the varied 70kW on JDM, you barely feel the added grunt and the UK leaf is heavier, thus tends to be a bit shorter in range, but more plush and equipped, they do not have the solar panel though. UK leafs have a 220-240 13A charger with a 13A rated Square pin EVSE which is ideal and safe with our local CEB circuits, but home charging takes near the 7 hour mark whereas the JDM leaf has a 200V 20A with a NEMA 6-20 EVSE which acts as a level 2 charger locally bringing the charging time to 3.5-4.5hours but needs the socket (approx 2500LKR) and early ZEO JDM EVSEs (pre 2012) have fried in our local circuits. Some UK leafs do have the 6.6kW on board charger as opposed to the 3.3kW charger on JDM leafs, hence these are rare and charge faster Not to be mean, Yes I did my research prior, but I found the above links under 5 minutes
  11. best take it out, an adapter is max $10 - $50 to replace, an ECU would be way worse, yes it can
  12. May we see what you did?
  13. As of now, most of these new budget / hybrid car types drive like maniacs

Yea, the early models called ZEO (chassis code) have a smaller battery and a less efficient motor (80kW) cheaper in auctions Post 2013 they have the AZEO chassis code, they have a 24kW battery with a more efficient motor (70kW) costlier in auctions, as in with many subtle changes, they've pumped up the range Mines an early 2015 JDM, being the latter To add to the OP Also I upgraded my premises' charging circuits to Japan / OEM intended spec, took off about an hour of the overall charging time. as our local plugs and sockets don't push beyond 13A, once upgraded they have a rating of 20A and bottom off somewhere below that, the CEB cut off AFAIK is 32A, so i'm still safe (awaiting high end kWH gauge off ebay ) Theres nothing I could do on the voltage though (200V- 20A) as of lately, one month of EV ownership, i'm doing more mods to the house because of the car
  15. Thanks a lot machn, having a busy spell this week, I'll take your word for it, Besides if its harsh enough to mess the radio, imagine what they'll do to 1.5 tonnes of wiring and electronics.
  16. 1 weekend! I decide to take the leaf and its raining, ah an opportunity to become the local lightening arrestor

  17. We have a separate thread for eBay stuff, viz Cool Ebay gadgets for cars I have been using a USB to OBD cable, a WIFI to OBD adapter, Bluetooth to OBD adapter since 2010, same old items on same old cars; never had an issue though, maybe its a faulty unit or something.
  18. and thats a good looking car! congrats
  19. Yea I guess, the leaf suspension atleast in mine ain't that soft (17" rims) and there s near zero body roll, thats why that brake dive hits you like a train all of a sudden! Been doing a few night commutes (12-20km) lately and To be frank I absolutely hate the LED lighting on the leaf now, its mostly too bright, pissing off the oncoming, causing glare all over and that atrocious blue hue, somewhere in between 7000-8000K (definitely not 6000K) doesn't do it for me, Also as the lights are on top of the hood, it shoots the thing far and high, at the oncoming and fails to clearly illuminate nearby stuff such as stones and potholes, they are adjustable, but this is at the lowest setting. By some luck it has halogens for fogs, which turn on time to time when I can't bear it anymore. This does fix the issue, but I don't want to keep them on like those noobs we see with all lights on nowadays High end halogens and OEM Hids are far better on the eyes, in my other cars, I've noticed the Toyota Leds have a warmer colour
  20. Nice review, The Leaf too has that brake dive, I must mention To be frank I kinda think they made the axio look better than the pre face lift edition, and with your colour, it must be looking good. Only thing I find annoying is the tiny wheels they come stock with, would look much better with a decent rim size And I guess u have fogs OEM, coz that bumper looks weird with the blinds / inserts otherwise
  21. try to get the moulded one, i'm sure you can find it in panchi, If you are buying universal, go for a branded one.
  22. So Unit#d Mot#rs is the service agent for the leaf, I got my warranty through them, weird
