  1. Could be a Series IIA as the headlights are on the wings. Or pretty much a front end swap along the way. Could be a Series I as well as they were produced till the 80s as knock down kits etc, but this is nowhere close to an S1 Looks Pretty much S3 outside, as per your pics but the interior is definitely not S3, more S1-S2 ish Only reason that Reg No. is not on a Defender is coz its a petrol As for the naming I have seen even Defenders 85-88 being Just labelled "Land Rover" on our reg books even when they were branded as Land Rover 90/110 prior to the Defender name. I have also seen a S3 Reg book with "Country of Manufacture - Japan", I assure you the reg details were not tampered in anyway..
  2. Where can I get one of these? Couldn't source them on ebay / dealextreme, maybe my poor key wording?
  3. Machan which gen of Hilux did you add this to? Engine?
  4. Its used to hold the sunroof securely once detached, only for the rear if I recall right.
  5. Usually the device plays the audio over a FM frequency which you can preset and you need to set the same channel on your stereo; thus the audio output will come through your built-in speakers.
  6. Whats the issue with the alternator? Sometime back I had an Autogauge Tach wired to the alternator, was a matter of wiring it into one of the 3 coils and calibrating it during the emissions test
  7. Have seen and tested the apparatus and know the manufacturer personally, lotta thought and effort has been put into it and has amazing results, long lasting, made of good bits. The Cons- The clutch feels 'Freelanderish' , the purist may say you loose the whole land-rover feel, I simply didn't add it when I had mine as I didn't want to complicate as clutch is a trouble-maker by default in landys.. Its definitely the best choice rather than going for UK based kits or bodging up something from a Fuso truck etc..

    Cr41 Crystal Lights

Don't buy the cheap aftermarket ones as they discolor very early, the mounts crack and the reflector lining also peels away, try to find a genuine pair. saw a pair, possibly genuine in kandy for 18000 which was tagged on one light, could be one or both (based on the age I'd guess the pair) Not sure about the interchanging of the lights between the two models though..
  9. Yes mate, by gas I was referring to the compressor powered unit both 12v plug in type or oem kit that runs off the engine AC compressor which seem troublesome, i've only been able to find thermo electric stuff here.
  10. Spoke to some AC specialists, they say with the gas coolbox even by default or retrofit with genuine bits, puts a heavy burden on the entire system leading to early wear and expensive repairs, so they suggested the electrical alternative.. like you said most views on the electrical variant are not good..
  11. A question on something i've been doing a bit of research, as per topic are the electric variants as effective as the factory fitted or retrofitted gas powered variants(r134a)? How do they cope up with the local climate and would it be of any use in a truck bed, canopy of course any users please drop in a word, thanks.

    Safety Bars For Jeep?

Machan thats a variant of a roll/cage bar ne, i'm no expert but i don't think theres any issue as long as there is any thing attached in front, brush guard/bullbar etc http://www.police.lk/index.php/traffic-police/55 Q10, No mention of a roll/cage bar though.
  13. Lol you should definitely make a trip this time! and show that Teg some windy roads
  14. Yup its a 12V system factory spec wired parallel, I was referring to the above unit, seen heaps for sale and they claim power gains and stable voltage with amps etc. Just wanted to know how n why, and they fit in-between the battery terminals (if I am not mistaken), so what do you do when you got 4? I've barely done 12k miles in it so the electrical bits are quite new,
  15. My dad got me this back in 97' first time I saw a piston, alas was too little to understand its value.. brings back memories!
  16. Hahaha thought of it during a 'break' planning a heap of mods and DIYs for the post exam period..
  17. Bringing up an old thread, just a question.. Experts please drop in a word.. Would voltage stabilizers have any effect on a Diesel? and what would you do if you had a Dual battery setup? Thanks
  18. Great job machan, been a fan of the Carina GT always and thats one lucky example!..
  19. Oh thats fine then, I thought SSS came only as a coupe, I presume then the garnish won't fit this either, btw hows work going on that twincarb setup?
  20. Well its nice to know that driving is still permitted with this injury, thanks for the info guys!
  21. Will you be doing the SSS pillar conversion as well?
  22. Obviously If one can bribe the examiner, I presume a license can be obtained, what my concern was, is it legal? Well after hearing about the arm, I guess this is the tip of the iceberg..
  23. Hi folks, Just wanted to raise this question as we have a good array of medical professionals here such as Komi (my senior) etc, Is monocular driving permitted in Sri Lanka? Are there any legislation? Or should the individual give up driving following an injury, worst case assume absolute blindness in one eye. A readup on the net reveals it is permitted on the UK after a thorough examination. Well I do agree there is a threat to the public, then again it is a very sensitive issue, apologies if I've been ignorant in any way Kindly share your opinions Thanks
  24. Saw this belle in the metal, and gosh that exhaust note, brought tears to my eyes! Great job Komi..
  25. I ain't and expert, just my experience.. been using a UK spec Hilux for over 2 years, no complains at all, the trim is way better, no rust so far. The only downside is that certain peers say is that it has a common rail and the agent import has a 3L, but to me this is not a con. . I guess the answer to your question depends of the Service History of each and every vehicle prior to import.
