Guys do you know a place to get ek3 distributor checked?

Hmm guys, It is 3 days now. Im still running with the recon radiator cap. Luckly i got it from the radiator house at the time i checked if any leaks in the radiator. They didn't have new one. I drove the car around 90-100km around the colombo today. But didn't notice any temperature increase. But when i was on the way home in the night, i drove the car in bit high rpm. Then i noticed very slightly increase in the heater meter. Anyway i bought a new radiator cap. Will fix it tomorrow and see. If that thing won't work, Im thinking to check the thermostat value. I replaced the plastic top tank of the radiator 1 1/2 years back. At that time the radiator cleaned. After that i only used distilled water mixed with coolant. So don't think that it blocked. Anyway guys really thanks for your help.

Hmmmm just before starting after full day park I noticed water level drop down in extra tank by 0.5 inch. Today morning I drown only just 10kms.

That means machan issue is in the thermostat valve da?

Thanks for the replies guys, today morning the hose was just like yeterday night and it became normal after i opened the radiator cap. And the water level in the extra tank was over flowing just like yesterday night. But after i opened the radiator cap i got to know that radiator is some what empty, I had to pour 300ml+ water into it. Then I removed the extra tank and reduced the its water level to max level also. By checking the cap it was bit hard to press. Then I had another cap removed from a recon car so i closed the radiator with it for now, and started the engine. kept until heat level goes to middle level. fan switched on as normal and temp was not increased anymore. Then I drove the car about 10km to office and didnt noticed any increase of the temp level, but very slightly quick up and down movement of the needle noticed.

Guys, this happened today night when i was driving home. I suddenly noticed increased of the heater meter. This is the first time for last two years saw that engine heat has increased upto 3/4 of the meter. After i came home i noticed that extra tank is full of water and it is over flowing. And after a few minutes the engine stoped, the top rubber hose from radiator to engine head has squeezed. I checked radiator fan worked fine. Just for your information, since last month i noticed some strange water level drop downs and ups. One day morning extra tank was empty. Then i filled up to the max level. Then next day morning it was about to over flow. And a few weeks back there was water level drops in extra tank noticed and i did a preasure test as well and there was no leak in the radiator. Experts i need your help before taking to the mechanic.

My Ek3 also had the same issue 'Sira'. The clutch was bit hard and they is a small vibration when releasing the peddle. Waruna checked and said it is high time to replace the clutch, PP and bearing. But after the de-assembling them the clutch plate was not that worn out, but waruna said that previous owner has replaced only the clutch plate and that wont help much and need to replace both together. And he also mentioned by looking at the color of the PP (Gold brownish) PP has heated too much and thats why the color change. Anyway he suggested me to change the both clutch and PP and I did so. Now the problem solved. Clutch is smooth as the accelerator. For me it was bit difficult at first to control the car due to the smoothness. It cost me 34k. the clutch and PP replaced were Exceedy.

Hi Kushan, Do Tech and CT have exactly same radiators as the genuine one or they fix some general matching radiators with a few modifications? Becoz I have seen some ek3s has replaced a radiator with some bigger width radiators. My ek3 has the original radiator with a smaller width than them. I guess that becoz of single pipe line. I replaced the plastic top tank with a brand new Thailand made plastic top tank 1 1/2 years ago. Now I have noticed some reductions in water level after 2-3 weeks. Still couldn't figure out how. But after the over night park I have noticed in the morning there is some wet looking green color coolant in the joint of aluminium core and plastic tank. Planning to go for a pressure check again this Saturday. Before that any guess from you guys? Many Thanks,

Best thing is the replacing the belt. Not a huge thing to do. Good mechanic will do it in a few minutes.

I got it done 1 year before for 4500. The place is their branch at Gamsabha Junction (Small Place). But he did a good job, no more leaking working well now 1+ years. If your top tank is plastic better replace it with a plastic one, rather that doing a copper one.

Hi, I’m searching for MANUAL ek3 gauge cluster speedometer for my 96 Civic. I searched several places including US motors but no luck. Only could found a non-working one. There are a lot of Automatic ones but manual ones are very hard to find. And I don’t even feel to plug up an auto one by covering the auto gauges. My car is Ek3 ML type so it has originally come up without a RPM gauge, so thought to replace the cluster. Anyplace to find it out? Many Thanks,

I got replaces only the Top Tank of the radiator of my ek3 (Plastic) from Rohana Motors at Gamsabha Junction. There head office is at Kelaniya. You could find a solution there. FYI: http://www.rohanamotorslk.com/

According to a sales guy at Micro Sales center at Navayalathena Kandy, Micro prices have not gone up yet. My Father has called them today.

He is working but not in day times. Asked me to drop the car in the evening and collect it back in the next day morning. Personally I don't keep the car for repairs and leave.

My Father had 4 KE72 and 1 KE74 That was our favorite car at that time. KE74 one we had was the GL model with 5 forward maroon color, really good looking. Still love that car. Last car we had was sold a few months ago for 5.50k. It was a 16- KE72.

I had this issue recently. when ac on, it feels like some one pulling the car from back. . Then ac guy took out it and checked, when it is roatating by hand, it was not smoothly runs. So he said I have to replace it. then I replaced with reconditioned one cost me 9500. And I replaced the small condenser with the big one. (Hope this is done in most of ek3s). Total cost was 29000. But now ac works perfectly.
