If the way cost is actually Rs 10 per km, arent the energy costs similar to having a petrol car that has a fuel efficiency of ~13kmpl under the new fuel cost scheme? Or around 17kmpl under previous fuel costs?
-
For the last 18000 or so km run in mine, the average is around 16kmpl. This is around 50% city mileage and 50% long distance mileage. Still I do not feel this figure is high enough to claim that 'hybrids save fuel'.
-
I've seen construction going on around the parts near Kaduwela junction even after the government change. Not sure about the official stance though.

1. I doubt it. Using a Honda Civic hybrid and it does around 13kmpl in Colombo city driving with traffic (note that i dont drive it with fuel saving in mind. Just drive like a regular car). Lot better than non hybrid civics but I wouldn't consider as some magical hybrid fuel saving. Plus I dont think any hybrid would do the claimed 20+kmpl figures in heavy stop and go traffic. 2. This depends on your requirements. If you run a lot of miles per month there will be some saving in the long term. If you are are running less than 1500kms a month I dont really see an advantage of using a hybrid. Either way having to suddenly pay +1mil for the vehicle you import is a kicker in the balls. I hope you guys get a good solution for your problem.

Buying Car Around 2.7 Million
ramishkad replied to lahiru_carlover's question in Car Buying Information
May I ask why you excluded the Corolla 141 as an option in your list of cars? Is it the supposedly bad fuel economy? But if you are running only 800km a month, i'd suggest you go for a 2007 or so Corolla 141 which is available for 2.7mil price range. -

If you are hoping to claim warranty from Sterling, you have to do all services from them. Dont even change any oils from outside as the buggers would make it a reason to not to give you warranty. But if your vehicle is not a hybrid, I doubt their warranty is worth much anyways.

When I see one of these I immediately recognize the driver as someone suffering from small penis syndrome and trying to make up for it with fake lights. How legal are these actually?

Holy sh1t!. Am i seeing it wrong or wasnt that a "Manna pihiya' in his hand? I wonder how his fingers didnt get sliced off.

Good to hear about the warranty. I had no clue Stafford were honoring at least some of them. But I dont get why they would give warranty for JDM version run in SL and not give for the UK version run in the same conditions. Makes no sense to me. Yeah the Civic is a pretty bad car to have parked around. I read in my service manual it says if the car remains unused for more than 30 days straight the battery cells can get permanent damage. Imagine what happens to those that sit around in car lots after being imported. It serves well as long as you run high miles with it I guess.
-
Haha. Good to hear they at least respected some claims. Hopefully when times comes to replace my battery I can give it a shot too, although knowing Stafford i dont have high hopes The original Honda warranty for a hybrid battery is 8 years and 150000 miles as i remember. I wish they had it in SL for imported units.
-
How did he get the battery free if i may ask? Did he have warranty from Stafford?

This is the same thing we have been using at our house too. It's effective. However, make sure to release the mouse so far away from the house. Those bastards are good at finding their way back.

Buying Second Hand Honda Fit Hybrid
ramishkad replied to Smartsanja's question in Car Buying Information
I cant comment on the second hand market and resale-ability after you buy it because im not interested nor informed about those areas. However, if you are buying it second hand, check the condition of the hybrid battery. Get the scan done from Stafford and in the scan report, there will be a parameter called "high voltage battery usable capacity". Maximum value for this is 75%. Anything below 25-20% would mean the battery is bad and will require replacing soon. Get one with a higher usable capacity or budget for a new battery/adjust price. I have not heard of 2010 models having factory issues though. I may be wrong. -
FD1 should fall within his budget. A 2006 FD1 goes for around 2.8mn and 2008 FD1 goes for 3.0-3.2mn

How much is your budget? Redline has some decent Audophile speaker systems but they are pricey. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AstBhhc_xqludFp0bDUzYjd1X0RjZVAwaGFPRWt1RFE&gid=9

Hi, I think what's there to be discussed about this was discussed at http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/16461-honda-civic-hybrid-fd3/ . If you need additional info might as well continue the discussion there.

Damn yours was a shitty experience. I had a battery replacement done through Sterling about a year back and they were quite efficient at it. Got it done within a month and didnt have to chase them around. I even wrote my positive experience here praising them But i had a jerk in my CVT and when i took it to show them, they were not as enthusiastic. According to them my gearbox needed to be replaced. My gearbox was under warranty - but according to them i had voided the warranty because i had changed CVT fluid from elsewhere. I did change it outside with genuine oil but the reason i did was when i asked to change it in their service, one of their service reps asked me to 'wait for the indicator to blink'. I lost confidence in them after that idiotic answer (in my car, the indicator blinks to indicate the CVT has a problem, NOT as an oil change reminder) and started to change it by myself from Stafford. Warranty being void for it may be technically valid , but the way events unfolded from the beginning, I thought they were just waiting for a reason to give to get out of the warranty claim.

I run about 1500-2000km a month (5 days in Colombo traffic and 2 Kandy-Colombo trips per week) in Civic Hybrid. Love the car but my average consumption is around 16kmpl (i dont drive the car with fuel saving in mind and these figures are with a bit of aggressive style driving). I spend roughly rs 20-22k on fuel per month. If you are purely running in City, i doubt switching to civic hybrid will give you a much benefit. If you really want to see a drastic difference in terms of fuel, try Fit GP5 or the Aqua. For your budget, you can switch to a GP1 which should do 15-18kmpl on average.

Im driving a Civic Hybrid which probably has the same weight as the Fit shuttle and same engine displacement. I climb Kadugannawa once a week without issues even with 4 passengers + driver. Only scenario i can think of which may be a problem for you is : You stop in a steep hill. IMA battery charge is empty (0 bars) and no assist is available. You might have to rev hard and harder to start moving from the steep hill dead stop with that load.

Honda Fit Hybrid 2013 (Gp1) Vs Honda Fit Hybrid Rs 2013 (Gp4)
ramishkad replied to arun-online's topic in General Automotive
If your budget can stretch to get a FIT RS, why dont you simply go for a GP5 which comes with a 1.5 engine as well? Newer hybrid tech and lithium ion hybrid batteries too if i'm not mistaken. -
Thanks for the warning mate. I usually pump air to tires once every two weeks so they get removed and re fitted frequently. So far didnt notice any difficulty. Thanks for the heads up.

Using a set of silver ones myself and so far they didnt fade.
